Lets face it, no religion is right. Humans have praised Gods for thousands of years, Gods were made up by primitive humans because we as a species question everything, this is what seperates up from mere animals, we questioned where everything came from, including ourselves and we wernt smart enough to answer these questions so we made up 'God'. God clearly didnt create humans, we evolved from monkeys, MONKEYS PEOPLE!!! science has disproven that god created the world and put humans on it but people still believe in the '7 day theory' which is just STUPID!!! I believe in god, a being of some sort which created the universe but didnt create humans, he isnt watching and judging us or forgiving our sins he probably doesnt know we exist because hes tied up in other things in some other galaxy right now. No religion is right, we are just living in the past and wont move on, the bible was made up thousands of years ago by people who didnt know any better. Anyone agree???

First, Homo Sapiens Sapiens didn’t come from monkeys, rather they both evolved from a common ancestor.

That said, each species has specific attributes. Homo Sapiens Sapiens has (among other attributes) the biological need for a complex culture. A culture in which individuals combine with other individuals for mutual benefit. With the mental capability of Homo Sapiens Sapiens some actions are defined as positive and others are defined as negative and are justified through some sort of philosophy. One such philosophy is religions in nature defining morals and ethics.

There are many types of religions but all have codes of conduct which support the various cultural relationships. By and large there is nothing wrong with this because such codes of conduct (religious or not) are the glue which holds society together. Whether it is a very formalized Christian or a Islamic or Hindu or one of the Pagan religions matters very little.

Of course, speaking as a Deterministic Atheist, you can also develop these codes of conduct (morals and ethics) without religion. Its not worth getting upset about.

I feel as though religious individuals perceive life with a lesser degree of severity than other individuals. Many religious followers have no problem believing in what they are told with no logical or rational backing. I think genetics naturally cause people to become submissive followers who have no desire to think for themselves. I think most people, if they actually thought about the concept of religion, would determine that its only set of ethical/moral guidelines for those that lack the intellectual capability to problem solve and reason on their own. Although I think religion had good intentions upon its creation, now it is just a coping mechanism to avoid depression and to find purpose in one's otherwise meaningless life. I guess it has its perks, it keeps ignorant individuals inline through the fear going to hell as a result of their sins. Their are a lot of stupid people in this world! But many of whom are still nice good intentioned individuals

First of all, no one in the scientific field believes that we were evolved from monkeys, monkeys did not even exist that long ago. I think you may be right about humans being primitive about their knowledge. This is a rational and logical assumption. Human beings are still primitive in their beliefs about origin, but one thing I do know. If you are a Christian and you do not question the fact in your belief that Jesus was the son of God, then why was it such a big deal for a being such as this to physically die for our sins, if he could come back to life? It makes no sense as to why this was such a big sacrifice. Any being who could bring him self back to life after death; this does not in my mind sound like a being such as this sacrificed anything. Why is this such a big story in the minds of people today?

yes your absolutely right, but their are gods out there that helps us out on a day 2 day basis without prayer becuz they are tru gods, such as the sun without the sun their be no human life as we know it, the sun is the most important thing we need for survival even more than water and air we can manufacture them from each other, but with out the sun their would be no plants and animals we would quickly die off, even the moon is a true god it makes weather stable long enuff 4 us as humans 2 evolve to eventually be idependant of the both of them but until then i raise my hands 2 the skies and deeply hope nothin happen 2 the both them and thats were religion came from, look in the bible the sun is in almost all the paintings, in judiasm the star of david is a sun, it was confirmed that the greeks loved apollo the sun god over zeus because he was more important to existance, the egyptians bases their whole society around the sun, so i think praying to false gods is stupid but praying to that giant nuclear holocaust out in space, and that is proabably one of the key factors to evolution well i say go head, Don't hate the religion,. hate the one you pray to

Honestly Religion isn't stupid at most maybe unethical and not humane! If most people that believe in whatever they believe in don't realize that everything draws back to treating people with respect and "peace" and helping other's which most people don't actually do! I used to think the same way and I believe that there is a higher power and sometimes I am not sure! I do believe in most religions beliefs so I can't exactly conform to ONE religion, the best thing for you to do is just figure out what you want from your religion! Do you feel right in believing in what you believe in! And as a human race you cannot live without questioning certain things so I think that you are on the right path of questioning what you feel is truly important to you. Follow your own path! And, honestly maybe just man is stupid not the religions that they choose!!!!!

Absolutely.People are stupid. Religion is just an excuse to explain things that cannot be understood. That is why they keep saying the lord moves in mysterious ways. Poor Galileo said the world was round and moved around the sun and these religious nitwits were furious with such stupidity. What more can one say except "the unreasonable in full pursuit of the unthinkable"

religion is basically for unethical people or people who do NOT live their life with integrity. they need guidance from a stranger to tell them what is right from wrong or to help them with their problems. if people would live their life with integrity and take responsibility for their own life, they would not need religion to fall back on. All religions are bad and evil. because religions divide mankind. If religions did not exist, the war in Iraq would not have occurred. there would be no wars. totally eliminate religion and we will have peace on earth. Especially the Christan religion. a religion which allows wrong doing so long as you ask for forgiveness. forgiveness does nothing for the violator. it only takes the upset away from the victim

Ok, I believe in evolution, etc. etc.

But I am also religious, and although I don't specifically believe in the "Seven day theory" (because I'm not Christian) I am religious, and I don't see a contradiction.

just to add (now this isn't neccesarily my opinion yet, I'm undecided) but according to the most recent scientists, specifically in the area of relativity, space does NOT extend infinitelly and there is a "size" of our space, that there is an outerlimit that cannot be breached, and that our "space is of a certain size (according to them it's actually expanding).

See this please:

No, religion is not stupid. Whether you believe in religion or not, it keeps people sane. It gives even those who are completely alone in this world a shoulder to cry on and a set of arms to hold them. I'm not saying you should pick up a religion, to each his own, man. All I'm saying is that stupid is not an apt word for it.
