materialism...the only thing that exists are particles and their properties. Physics can do an awfully good job of explaining regularity in the universe without resorting to any concept of a creator.
So, by accepting the conclusions of physics, (say, my cup is composed of atoms) your are implicitly accepting their assumptions. One of these is that we can explain order without postulating the existence of God.
If you believe in God, this picture presents you with three options: (a) reject modern physics or (b) find some account of how a divine, non-material being could act on a material world or (c) take up pantheism, which says that God is-literally- everything. On this view, the reason why the scientists don't need God is that it works from the inside as an imminent cause, not as an efficient cause.

If by belief you mean faith, then I don't have any. Faith inherently implies blinding oneself in order to believe things that clearly aren't true. I believe that people should have more respect for each other and themselves, and that, by and large, religion has had a negative impact on humanity. By religion, I mean a set of beliefs, rather than a philosophy or lifestyle like Buddhism or Satanism.

I'm a saint and I'm holy, so naturally I believe in God; that's my job. Even if there were no God I would still believe, cause belief is what's important. The people who don't beleive they are just being contrary.

I am a Christian, but I may be able to help.
Some people believe in a god and a goddess. Some people believe in no higher being at all.
Beliefnet.com has some cool links and stuff that might help.

In as much as I was not around to see how everything came into being (and neither were you),I say, "I don't know ..... YET!" To assume that some god, my less than intellectual ancestors made up, instantaneously farted the universe into being, is absurd.

i believe in myself, and i believe i am a god. I am composed of that which god is composed of...which is energy, we arn't that much different....and since i am a god, i must live life with dignity and you know, lead an example. if we all had that philsophy, we would have much respect for ourselves..by the way, jesus is my bro
