I would like to ask my Christian friends: why, if you beleive in the Ten Commandments, why do you kill animals and eat them when the commandment says explicitly, "Thou shall not kill"?

My uncle died a few years ago, he did not believe in God. I was wondering since God is past, present and future, Do you think I could pray that he would belive and ask God to hear my prayers in the past? Or is that just wishful thinking? Thank you for your help.

That it was banned in many foreign countries as well as in many states in the USA.

and victorian sentimentality anyway. Make it a real holy day. Dec 25 is probably not the birthday of the historical Jesus if he ever existed, but I don’t wanna start a fight about that one. It's the commercialization of Christmas that bothers me. How can you celebrate the birth of the man who was always saying stuff like “blessed are the poor in spirit” and “if you want to follow me give your possessions to the poor” with the spectacle of greed and glitter and covetousness and avarice that .the modern Christmas has become? Do this. Have a nice simple dinner with family and friends and exchange simple handmade gifts after attending services at church. Take back your Holy Day from the American Greed Machine.
What do you think?

Do we even have the right to place value on another human being? Isn't one life just as valuable, just as precious, as another?

Your thoughts, elaborating if you will.

It really bothers me when other people talk about how bad someone is and they need to look at themselves most of the time. Other people blame christians for not being as "good" as they are supposed to be but no one's perfect, especially christian, we all have our differences and ideas that can get us in trouble...but why do people have to dwell on it so long??? What do you think?

Here is part of an article that appeared earlier this week in Earthtimes.org, How do you feel about it? I personally feel like the North Carolina Baptist Convention is made up of a bunch of bigoted, racist, elitist, hypocrites.

"North Carolina Baptists approve anti-gay policy
Author : Pat Fryer

GREENSBORO, North Carolina: The Baptist State Convention of North Carolina decided by a vote Tuesday to expel Baptist churches offering membership to gays and end its relations with congregations that support or approve of homosexuality. The vote amounts to adoption of a major policy that will allow the group to probe members for their orientation.

The North Carolina convention includes more than 4,000 member churches and nearly 1.2 million members. It is the second largest state body that is affiliated to the national Southern Baptist Convention. The latter has already approved a similar policy a decade ago. "

I'm trying to find information about what steps did Saint Patrick take to prepare himself to Christianize Ireland. My book has only a short paragraph of him and only one sentence within that paragraph tells me that he studied in Gual and in 432 was Ordained bishop. HOWEVER, on the internet i found a little more. It says he studied under St. Germanus and was ordained by him also, I also found he was ordained by Pope Celestine and was sent back to Ireland to take the place of Pallidus by Pope Celestine. WHO IN THE WORLD ORDAINED HIM BISHOP???? LOL ? Also, where did he study or for how long...who taught him, etc.

its very possible his rising from the dead means he just got better and made noise and freaked the guards out, considering the lack of education of the times this would seem possible, even in the 1800s they buried people they thought were dead but were actually still alive, if he actually survived it would have freaked people out enough to believe he had risen from the dead, due to thier lack of independent thinking and knowledge, 10 year olds today are brighter and more educated then they were 2000 years ago and if your high priest said it was so then you just believed him,i know i will get the radical christians saying that i am going south for eternity but is that really independent thinking of them,

Well, I've always thought that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit were equal and the same, but in church, the gospel reading was Mark 13: 24-32, and the last bit "But as for the day or hour, nobody kows it, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son; no one but the Father" seems to imply the Father's superiority over the Son. And the fact that Christ constantly alludes to the fact that He does the Father's will and all imply that God the Father is greater than God the Son. I think I remember my priest saying once that Father, Son and Holy Spirit were one and the same, so is there like a hierachy thing going on up there? To tell you the truth, I'm the sort of Catholic whose only exposure to the bible is during mass and the occasional flick through at home, as well as the mysteries of the rosary, so i pretty much suck.

A viewer wrote in to ask Pat Robertson a question

"Why [do] evangelical Christians tell non-Christians that Jesus (God) is the only way to Heaven? Those who are Hindu, Buddhist, Islamic, etc. already know and have a relationship with God. Why is this? It seems disrespectful."

Robertson replied that it is not at all disrespectful because all other religions really just worship "demonic powers."

"No. They don't have a relationship. There is the god of the Bible, who is Jehovah. When you see L-O-R-D in caps, that is the name. It's not Allah, it's not Brahma, it's not Shiva, it's not Vishnu, it's not Buddha. It is Jehovah God. They don't have a relationship with him. He is the God of all Gods. These others are mostly demonic powers. Sure they're demons. There are many demons in the world."

'Demonic powers"? Good grief, Pat, who still believes in demons anymore? Is this what Christians really think about other religions of the world? Of all the conceited arrogance...

Quote I found today, which made me think of this question:

An inner power needed to make accurate decisions is the power to tolerate. Tolerance is not about having to put up with or endure. It's about respect for difference. It is about being able to appreciate diversity, the beauty in that diversity and difference. We need confidence to allow others to do what they are doing. Rigidity is a sign of lack of self confidence and self respect. It is better to have peace with someone than to have 100 percent perfection and tension. The quality of interaction comes from our ability to stop (that is not to be affected or influenced by what the other is doing). When I learn to stop, then I become more perceptive of the situation and am able to do make the right decision.
