My uncle died a few years ago, he did not believe in God. I was wondering since God is past, present and future, Do you think I could pray that he would belive and ask God to hear my prayers in the past? Or is that just wishful thinking? Thank you for your help.

now don't you worry about your uncle....he is resting in heaven reviewing his life talking to Jesus and being loved and happy....your prayers are not in vain either.....it is good character for you and develops your love and understanding.

Accepting Yeshua as his saviour is the only thing your Uncle could do to be with God. If he were alive your prayers would have some weight.

1 John 5:16 If anyone sees his brother commit a sin that does not lead to death, he should pray and God will give him life.

Obviously you care deeply for your Uncle but while he was alive he chose his own path. Since we live in time, these are where our choices are made.

Your prayers will neither help nor hinder but the Bible says there will be a resurrection of the righteous and the unrighteous and your uncle will most likely be included. The very best thing you can do is to exercise your own faith--read your Bible daily, talk earnestly and truthfully with God in prayer and associating regularly with others who are trying to do God's will and who are encouraging and upbuilding. You may very well be alive when Armegeddon begins which means you will have to remain faithful until the end of your life or the end of Armegeddon in order to be alive to welcome your uncle back. Bless you for your loving consideration of him and I look forward to meeting you someday as well.

Wishful thinking. God doesnt exist. He cant hear anything.

Recent scientific study proved prayer doesnt work. The study was paid for by a religious organzation. The results showed that there was zero correlation between those that were prayed for and those that were not, and actually demonstrated that those that were aware they were being prayed for actually had HIGHER incidences of complications from open heart surgery - proving beyond a doubt that prayer is not effective.

Prayer is nothing more than the placebo affect. Like the sugar pill that you beleive is relieving your pain symptoms, prayer is nothing more than asking your subconcious to "heal" you or answer your prayer. Thats one of the reasons not one amputee on earth has ever regrown a limb - because humans dont have that ability, and God doesnt answer prayers.

Hi, i think your question is quite confusing. However, i think that God knows what's in your uncle's heart (even up to last second when he was on earth) whether he believes in Jesus or not. I also face the same problem, my dad passed away without accepting Jesus (that's what i know so far). But few months after that, i found a bible on his cupboard. So, i never know what happens between him and God. It could be at one point he had trust Jesus in his heart, but not doing "public conviction" that he had accepted Jesus. So, up to this moment, i just trust God's heart and wisdom. I don't know whether my dad (and your uncle, and so many other people) will go to heaven or hell, as we're not the one to judge. However, this i believe : "When i can't see His hands, i can always trust His heart". God bless you!

I think the Mormons believe something like that, or at least they have baptism for the dead. I really don't understand it all that much.

However, IMO, when you uncle died he was given the chance to live with God or not. He would have become aware of God at that time. Unless he was a totally evil man that would have chosen to turn away from God, he is already in heaven. You can still pray for him, if you wish. However, he is probably praying for you.

I think Minty is right, We are not the judge of anyone. We don't know your Uncles heart and what he did. The real answer here is that you don't forget God and prayer for anyone Dead or Alive is not a bad prayer. The only bad prayer is the one we don't say or feel or give credence to.

I dont quite understand what you are asking.. Is it you you want your past prayed for, or your uncles past?.. You know.. we never know whats in the hearts of others.. We are not to judge.. Only God is the ultimate judge.. Just hope that your uncle truly believed in God and was right with his belief upon death..

In the Orthodox Church there are prayers said for those that went to rest ...God sees/hears our prayers and I think that you can pray for y our uncle, that means you care for him and God sees your heart and HE will fill it with His Love. May God help us not to judge each other but love each other- even if there are a lot of differences between us!

Jesus said prayers in behalf of others. You can pray in behalf of your uncle or anyone you love, living or deceased. Tell God your earnest concerns and He will listen.

If he died as a unbeliever then there is no point in praying for him.
But one lesson you can learn from this is make yourself prepare before it is too late that is death.

Practicing God's Infinite Mercy

[39:53] Proclaim: "O My servants who exceeded the limits, never despair of GOD's mercy. For GOD forgives all sins. He is the Forgiver, Most Merciful."
[39:54] You shall obey your Lord, and submit to Him totally, before the retribution overtakes you; then you cannot be helped.
[39:55] And follow the best path that is pointed out for you by your Lord, before the retribution overtakes you suddenly when you least expect it.
[39:56] Lest a soul may say, "How sorry I am for disregarding GOD's commandments; I was certainly one of the mockers."
[39:57] Or say, "Had GOD guided me, I would have been with the righteous."
[39:58] Or say, when it sees the retribution, "If I get another chance, I will work righteousness."
[39:59] Yes indeed (you did get enough chances). My proofs came to you, but you rejected them, turned arrogant, and became a disbeliever.
[39:60] On the Day of Resurrection you will see the faces of those who lied about GOD covered with misery. Is Hell not the right retribution for the arrogant ones?
[39:61] And GOD will save those who have maintained righteousness; He will reward them. No harm will touch them, nor will they have any grief.
[39:62] GOD is the Creator of all things, and He is in full control of all things.
[39:63] To Him belongs all decisions in the heavens and the earth, and those who disbelieve in GOD's revelations are the real losers.
[39:64] Say, "Is it other than GOD you exhort me to worship, O you ignorant ones?"
