I would like to ask my Christian friends: why, if you beleive in the Ten Commandments, why do you kill animals and eat them when the commandment says explicitly, "Thou shall not kill"?

I am a christian, and this sounds worse that I truly mean it, but I have never killed an animal that I have eaten.

The Old Testament is the Age of the Law which is pre-grace, we are currently post-law or in the Age of Grace. After Jesus Christ comes back it will be post-grace the Age of Theocracy where Jesus Christ reigns on the throne forever and ever.

We do not need to kill animals for sacrifice. We kill animals and eat them because God said that it was permissable. Read the Book of Acts where God tells Peter to take, kill and eat even the unclean animals.

The commandment is referring to your fellow man. However, I am a vegetarian, but not for that reason. It is unhealthy to eat animals in this day and age. They are full of antibiotics and hormone additives that all contribute to cancer.
A better question would be, if you believe in the ten commandments, why do you break them by breaking the Sabbath Day Commandment (4th, sundown Friday to sundown Saturday)?

The commandments would be better translated as "Thou shall not murder" - it refers to killing people. We were given dominion over the animals - read Genesis.

Jesus is your brother. He would be insulted to be thought of as lord. This idea was first started by the Romans when they took over Christianity in the 4th century.

They were used to being looked at as lords of all the people they had dominion over, so they could not imagine a god who would not want to be called lord.

Jesus was not a lord he was a fellow human being, a mere mortal. not the son of god as the christian faith declares it. most of the original scripture of the bible has been rewritten to suit modern man, and if Christianity were true and thou shall not kill why is one of the biggest christian countries USA, continue to kill rape and torch many Innocent human beings for there own gain

Murder applies to fellow humans, not animals. If you read the Old Testament you discover God has given animals to us to take care of and for food and to sacrifice.

And yes Jesus is LORD.

Don't read too much into it.
I have often thought that Christians don't take the ten commandments seriously enough.
