Let me start off by saying that I have studied many religions in detail, and this is in no way meant to be a broad generalization, mainly some of the bigger religions (Islam, Judaism, Christianity). I think there are some religions out there who really do teach acceptance and have very good guidelines written into them.

If you will look at these religions views on other people and other religions in general, I do not see how a moral person could accept how their religion works. With the lack of evidence on any religion (please don't turn this into an argument of proof, you will look foolish), I have a hard time thinking that any person could be comforatable following the kinds of supreme beings these religions represent. Beings that turn a soul's afterlife into nothing more into a choose right and your in, choose wrong and your banished.

What are your thoughts on the subject?

in the Bible people were bought and sold like cattle and became property for life or in some cases, as with a man's daughter, she got a 6-year term - so it IS slavery - any time your freedom is taken away with someone owning you are, by any name, a slave. Prophets, and other so-called people of God engaged in this practice - so why, would God condone it?

Jerry Fallwell has said all gay people are going to hell. This ticks me off. I have been boycotting his books and his TV shoes.
Does this make me hateful?

I have been in a common law relationship for 30 years. I became a Christian 10 years ago. My common law spouse keeps procrastinating about getting married and I don't want to manipulate him into it until he is ready. Through a mutual decision, we are no longer sexually active. I know that I am not guilty of the sin of fornication, but what about our still living together. I believe that it would be wrong to dissolve the relationship. I have a step daughter and three beautiful grandchildren that I do not want to loose. I have prayed about this for years and one time I heard the Lord say "Be Still" I am not sure about my salvation even though I am a born again Christian who loves Jesus and tries to follow him. I would appriciate opinions from born again Christians. Thanks
P.S. My spouse is not a believer.

do you really want to be saved?and know where your soul will spend eternity?or do you want to continue in blindness b/c you don't want to face the reality that life is not certain and you just might end up in the wrong place?

I dont know what it is...I get so mad when I go to chruch. I feel like every one there is pretending to be perfect. I get nothing out of the sermons. I love God and believe Jesus died on the cross for my sins. I just feel like the church is making a mockary of him. It's not just my church it's all churches. It's the polictics, money, numbers, potlucks and picnics. It's getting questioned by everyone if you didnt show up to sunday school...I feel like they think they will be saved by the church not Jesus. How can we make a difference in this world if we spend all week in a building? I find it all very selfish. I need some words of encourgment. My husband is so disappointed by my attitude and I cant seem to pull my self out of this rut.

does anyone know the origin of these coins?

I'm Jewish, but I was wondering what the Christian view on this is. I know that Christians believe that Jesus is the Messiah, and that he died for our sins. But if he died for our sins, and if the Messiah came, then how come there are still bad people in the world. Also, how could the actual Messiah die? I'm not trying to be mean to Christians, I'm just wondering what you guys believe.

Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ. (Ephesians 6:5)

Elton John said organized religion doesn't work and religion should be banned because it promotes hatred. He didn't specify a paricular religion.

I love Elton John's music, but this really ticks me off. If I choose to now boycott his music, his personal appearances and such, would that make me hateful?

The lottery ticket is just a tiny slip of paper, but the Bible has hundreds of pages, and says you will go to "heaven," maybe.

I'm not trying to pick a fight but I just don't understand your answers. If the slavery statement is not of God, which other parts of the Bible are inccorrect? Why should I believe any of it? And why would God allow his people to practice sucha thing regardless of the time? I don't understand.

On the other what if the Atheist is wrong.
Better yet what if everyone's wrong? What if we are just a bunch of passionate misguided souls that dont have a clue. Hey is that new John Legend CD any good?

Who's God? Is always the question right? I feel like everyone is so caught up in their religion that God is takeing the back seat. I have noticed that in the 7 years since I 've become a "christian" that we are not studying the bible but books written by men and women interpating the bible for us. I feel like we study Mattew, Mark, Luke and Jhon more then we study the good Lord himself. I am scared because I think that in the thousands of different versions of the bible something has to have been left out or added. I am always afriad that we are being mis lead. There are too many questions for me to write here...I just want to know if there is anyone out there who feels the same way?

You know the Emmaus story, where two disciples didn't recognize Jesus who just rised from the dead. Do you get any signs in that story that the disciples believe in the resurrection?

And I have a second question about the story with the adulteress. I think that the main theme isn't the adultery but Jesus' intelligence, how he deals with the Pharisees: I mean they wanted to have a reason for condemning him. Anyway, what meaning or importance does "death" has in this story?

Thank you so much
