I am agnostic, mostly, and love theology of all kinds for the simple pleasure of reading various stories and taking what good I can to be a better person, or to share with others, or simply being touched by an event, whether or not I am sure it was completely true...

I just want to say it bothers me some when people keep saying this one quote for certain, "Only fools of the heart do not believe in God."

Just to let some of you know, it's -really- hard to want to hear the supposed Good Word if we're called foolish before even opening up the book.

Same goes to people saying Muslims are terrorists who have never touched the Kuran (spelling?). And for atheists telling worshippers of God to shove the Bible "you know where". And for calling people Heathens for not being baptised.

Am I alone on this? Wouldn't it be easier to convert people if we stopped judging first? "God forgives", you say? Then why play God and judge for him before He can get a chance to speak?

If you met the "second coming", would you know it? Would you think he was just a scruffy unwashed lay about.

When was the last time you went to a homeless person for spiritual advice? What would you honestly make of him in a world which is obsessed by image and "bling"? How many homeless people have you walked past and dismissed or been rude to and not thought who you could be standing next to?

I've seen a lot of "Christians" be very un-Christian.

As a Christian or an Atheist, how would you feel about him telling you things which are different from what the church teaches and would you be exhilerated or worried?

Romans 1:25
They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

Explain.

At least according to Protestantism, all you need to get salvation is to believe in God/Jesus Christ/whatever. So what happened to EVERY, SINGLE, non-Christian person in the history of the world? Like...what happened to 99% of the world? (Even Europe didn't become Christian until a few thousands years ago). So what about...everywhere? (I was going to list countries but...You name it and there was a place that wasn't Christian!)

So did they all go to hell because they didn't (couldn't?) believe in God/Jesus Christ/whatever?

Was god just testing our faith when....

-The black death killed millions of Christians in europe?
-When the crusaders were told if they killed in the name of god they would be free of sin.
-Pearl Harbor
-Aids
-Cancer
-Handicapped people
-Shemales
-9/11
-Hurricane Katrina
-Holocaust
-Stalin's reign
-Rape of Nanking
-U.S. Pow

many, many more

Was our entire history of horrible crimes god's will? Did he/she/it stood idlely by when this happened? If god is all knowing all power, all merciful, great, best friend in the world, love love love, than why? Seriously why!!

I am sickened.

As has been noted, the number of people questioning the existence of God has grown to 42%, all while the political power and prominence of the evangelical church has expanded.

During this expansion, conservative Christians have been noted to get involved in the political arena in the following areas:

- inserting intelligent design into public school biology classes,
- censoring television and radio language & images,
- preventing homosexual marriage,
- restricting or eliminating abortion rights,
- intervening in right-to-die decisions, and
- severely limiting stem-cell research.

How big a role does the political agenda of conservative Christians play in making it more difficult to move toward a religious faith in Christ?

friary for sleeping with the nun.... yes then after that he had problems with indulgences and so on (note indulgences aren't forgiving of sin just the punishment of sin know works can forgive sin just the Lords mercy) anyways howcome most protestants don't realize that the main reason he reformed was because he wanted some fun and when he was caught he didn't get it his way so he did what he did?

A few years ago there was an independent movie produced with supposedly a really big budget, big name actors, and a bunch of special effects. In the previews I saw on the Christian channel it showed the story of a guy who was spared from the very graphic fire and brimstone of hell by his beliefs. The movie was billed as having very advanced special effects (in fact what I found memorable was the footage of the guy in hell and all these bugs moving under the skin in his arm). Does anyone know the title of this movie and where it can be found? Thanks.

Why do more people knock religion and pity the gay and when a person knocks down religion only a few people get angry but when someone comes along and rips on gays, a lot of people are up in arms. Why is that? No mean answers please.

Before the Protestant reformation, there was no such thing as a "denomination". There was only the Catholic Church in the west and the Eastern Orthodox Churches in the east.

And before 1054 AD, there was only the Catholic Church with an unbroken Apostolic line going all the way back to the Apostle Peter when Jesus founded the Church with Peter as the first leader (what we today call the Pope).

The combination "the Catholic Church" (he katholike ekklesia) is found for the first time in the letter of St. Ignatius to the Smyrnaeans, written about the year 110. The words run: "Wheresoever the bishop shall appear, there let the people be, even as where Jesus may be, there is the universal [katholike] Church."
