I know it means digestive track but say in Gen: but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowles shall be thine heir, and I know he doesnt mean what today's modern defenition means, so what do you think they are trying to say?

Bowels are like your "guts". Have you ever heard the phrase "I just have a gut feeling about this"? It refers to your innermost being. In the passage you are talking about it is used figuratively to mean that the child will be Abraham's legitimate son through his wife.
ESV Genesis 15:4 And behold, the word of the LORD came to him: "This man shall not be your heir; your very own son shall be your heir."
KJV 1 John 3:17 But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

Bowels of mercy. That's more poetic than colon of mercy.
One expression I've never heard is rectum of mercy, you want to know why? Simple. That would not be much mercy. Cause the bowels can hold a lot more mercy than the rectum.
And another thing, when you're talking about the Buddha, bowels of mercy means A LOT of mercy.

In the days of the Bible, the "bowels" were symbolic of the seat of human emotions, much like the heart is for love in today's society. I know it sounds strange, but in a weird sort of way, they were saying something like, "I love you with all my stomach!"

Yes, it's ur intestines....
It is also often used to describe a location or passageway into a deep, dark or rotten place.
I don't know the biblical referance ur talking about.
Perhaps it's to do with a depiction of hell....

That text uses the word "meah" in Hebrew which means (collectively) the abdomen, by implication the uterus or of men-the seat of generation. (belly, bowels,heart,womb)
