For one, tradition. Secondly, the days were measured differently then than they are now (24 hours) I cannot remember exactly how they were measured, but it would have been 2 1/2 days back then compared to our 3 days now.
(What they called 3 days was actually 2 and 1/2 by our modern standard)

Friday was the first day.
Saturday was the second day
Sunday was the third.
Go book a hotel for a 3 day-two night weekend and it will likely be Friday through Sunday noon.

Modern-day Easter is derived from two ancient traditions: one Judeo-Christian and the other Pagan. Both Christians and Pagans have celebrated death and resurrection themes following the Spring Equinox for millennia. Most religious historians believe that many elements of the Christian observance of Easter were derived from earlier Pagan celebrations.
The equinox occurs each year on March 20, 21 or 22. Both Neopagans and Christians continue to celebrate religious rituals linked to the equinox in the present day. Wiccans and other Neopagans usually hold their celebrations on the day or eve of the equinox. Western Christians wait until the Sunday on or after the next full moon. The Eastern Orthodox churches follow a different calculation; their celebration is often many weeks after the date selected by the Western churches.

when we say that jesus died and rose again on the third day, according to the customs of the time, Friday is counted as the first day. So, friday, saturday, and sunday -- sunday is the third day.
hope that helps.

I am guessing, you start counting Friday as the first day, Saturday as the second, and Sunday as the third day.
PS. You won't find Easter in the bible. It is a man-made holiday.

Take note of the name you have adopted to yourself. "Morning Starr" have a different calling in King James Version and Catholic's Latin Vulgate. See Isaiah 14:12-17 in some Bible like NIV and then go to REV.22:16. If you find it, don't tell me that I did not inform you.
