If we read History books and particularly focus on the Dark Ages (lasted more than 300 Years)section of the Roman Catholic Church, then it is Conlusively proved even to an Idiot that in every European country where Christianity is prevalent were Conquered first and later Converted by Force .
Just look at your Inception ,The Roman Empire converted 300 years after the Execution of Christ,During the period none of the Roman rich class or middle class had converted.
The only ones who had converted were the Slaves and Lower Rung people who had no Political say and later Constantine captured power with these 5th Columnist and Converted the Empire by force.
Muslims have a similar History in which they have Consolidated their Empire by Force and Under the Sword.
So what I want to ask is When your Church Also has a Bloddy History where they have converted the Pagans, Nordics,Celtics and Others by Force and not their Free will and have Destroyed and Demonized their Religion over the Years
Do you really think your religion is right when no one in the past Flocked to your Religion Willingly
And even Now in India and China you are Minorities of 2% and are not Growing at Fast rates.

Why is it that Christians say all this religious crap and try to get everyone to believe in it and wheather we choose to or not, they always find something to make us feel bad about ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that we do, like living out our lives by our choices isn't good enough or something? How do you know which bible verses to accept/follow and which ones to reject?

For Example:

EXODUS 31:15
For six days work is to be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day must be PUT TO DEATH.

...Now obviously I know to reject this verse. Should I just reject and refuse to follow any of the old testament? That might interfere with this verse:

PSALM 19:7
The Law of the Lord is Perfect.

If I stick to just NEW testament, I'm having a small problem with this one:

Matthew 18:7
"If your hand of foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away.."

Am I misinterpreting this verse?

How do I know which verses to take LITTERALLY and which verses to "interpret"? And how do I know the correct interpretation?

This is not a question of hate, nor am I trying to bother anyone, but it seems as though whenever someone asks this question there is no answer. Muhammad had a wife who was around the age of 8-9 years old. This is a fact, and if you ask any Muslim Cleric, or anyone that studied the history of Islam they would concur.

My question is how can that be justified? If you're going to say "because it was accepted back then" please don't. I'm, not asking what was accepted back in the day, because even then it was not justified.

Just answer the question or don't say anything at all. Don't try to point out another religions faults, because that's not the question, don't swear at me, because I'm only asking a question based on facts. If you would like to answer, answer, if you want to deny it, don't answer. I would also appreciate it if nobody else gives sarcastic remarks against Islam, because I'm trying to keep this peaceful even though some of my past remarks were negative.

So we always hear about creation in terms of days. People argue over whether the 'day' mentioned is actually a day or a metaphor for an extended period of time. What about the possibility that God created a very slowly revolving Earth and a day back then actually was the equivalent of millions of years today? I mean, it shouldn't be too much trouble for him to speed it up later.

Personally, I'm an agnostic. I haven't really chosen a side because I don't think either side has presented a perfect argument or claim to righteousness. But for those who have chosen a side, is your loyalty unwavering? Could any new evidence, epiphany, revelation, experience etc. change your way of thinking? Why or why not?

...all of a sudden He doesn't exist or it's explained by evolution or some other theory?

For example I've heard people say that God is responsible for babies dying or for sending people to hell but when it comes to good things like nature, life, love, happiness or something good evloution or some other explanation (stated as fact) is given.

You can't have it both ways. Either he is responsible for both the good AND the bad or He isn't responsible for any of it.

Like the whole "why doesn't god heal the amputee" bullshit... for some reason god is blamed for the amputee loosing his arm but evolution is taught to explain that person's heart beating...

Pretty hypocritical if you ask me...

God should be trusted, regarding the reasons skeptics give for not believing. For example, assume God exists in your mind,(remember, creationism IS reasonable.) now all things in the Bible become possible, and God should be trusted when you do not understand something. Even regarding things in the Bible you don't like. The answer is to trust God. His perspective is huge, so how can we point our finger at God and judge?

Ok, I'm confused as hell. If I convert to Islam in order to date this hot muslim chick I know---I won't get to eat pork or drink beer again?

I guess where I'm getting confused is that I can't have some brewskis and pork chops at a barbecue, but I can blow myself up or fly a plane into a building?

I don't understand---can someone explain this to me.

Serious answers only.

I mean, he is all-powerful and ultimately he is the only one who decides whether or not you go to hell, so really, if God is kind and all loving, there is no excuse for him to send people to burn for eternity?!?!

To all atheists, what are some things you wish would change that would truly be the separation of church and state?

2006-09-24 17:48:19 · 10 answers · asked by Anonymous

1. Why would an Atheist want to spend his only life in jail?

2. Christians think there's an afterlife so, life in jail wouldn't be that bad

3. Christians are taught that God will forgive you for ANYTHING you do

4. Us Atheists are responsible for our own behavior

5. A truly good person wouldn't need the hell threat to be good

6. Christians are taught that they're born bad or born in a sinful world. That automatically lowers their standard of behavior

7. The ten commandments are useless because Jesus died for you to break them

8." You all fall short of the grace of God"? Take that scripture and run with it. You do all kinds of evil things and fall back on that

"the bible commands us to support israel". I realize most christians are not this dumb, but when I see it I notice three parts:

1. the other countries in the mid-east are uncivilized
2. israel loves peace
3.they share are democratic ideals
4.God prefers jews (may God forgive anyone who thinks in this fascist way...and calls themselves christian, embarrassing a good religion)

This question is mainly directly for christians who agree with any of the above, for "biblical reasons" and who wish to justify these beliefs.

1. civilization originated in the middle east, you have never even talked to an arab I bet, and as far as what's civilized and human, I hardly would include colonialism/settlement building/killing children everyday (this goes unreported- and when it does get media coverage, people rationalize it to fit with their beliefs about who is "good" and who is "bad" instead of asking real questions)
