With the argument of christianity versus atheism, are we all way off base? I'm an atheist, but with the infinite amount of possibilities we could all be completely wrong. Who here is really justified to say I am right? Shouldn't we say, I believe, but who knows?

why do christians always say that the bible is true? The only proof of it is that it is "The Word of God" but the only place that says the bible is the word of god is in the bible.
If i say that everything i say is the truth. and then claim to be god does it make me god?
so there's no proof in saying it's the word of god... stop using it!

Witches (Wiccans, Warlocks, etc.) do not even believe in Satan, for he is a Christian based theory that can not be proven. Just like God cannot be proven whatsoever. I am a bone-fide wiccan and i am proud of it. i love my beliefs and am happy with what i do-- and i do not believe in Satan- and i especially do not worship anyone under christian law. So why do some people think with their narrow minds that Wicca is a satanis religion when in the Wiccna religion- satan does not exist?

I have tried many churches, Lutheran, Baptist, Methodist, and independents. The people there, all seem to be pro war, unwilling to donate time to assist the poor, and have no spirit.

Many of you have heard of the story in St.Louis of the woman who was killed, her baby cut from her womb and her three children drowned. My question, if God existed how could such an act occur. Please do not give me the free will argument. If God is a loving father figure and we all his children, no father would ever allow his children to murder each other.

My problem with almost all religions really are that for centuries, most have basically only been used for evil. Religions were used to wage war (jihad, the holy wars, ect) and thats pretty much it.
My explanation for organized religion is this-for as long as time has existed, there is always a few who have all and many who have none. To keep order with those who had none, religion was invented. In this way, you didn't feel bad that the king had everything because in the next life you have heaven. It is basically a life insurance policy so people feel better when they die.

Was Moses perhaps shipped from Vikings in the north, to Egypt? Cause I know how vikings like their boats.

Noah.. I wonder if those boat buildings skills were in his blood?

What do you think?

Is it because of fear of the unknown?

Religion is based, I think, primarily and mainly upon fear. It is partly the terror of the unknown and partly, as I have said, the wish to feel that you have a kind of elder brother who will stand by you in all your troubles and disputes. ... A good world needs knowledge, kindliness, and courage; it does not need a regretful hankering after the past or a fettering of the free intelligence by the words uttered long ago by ignorant men.

April has been hospitalized for 3 months
after her ex b/f gave her a severe concussion.
She had major swelling in her brain, and
eventually developed a blood clot so they
had to do more surgery. She went into a
month-long coma soon after that. April came
out of coma last month, but doctors say she
has approx. 65% permanent brain damage,
with little chance of recovering normal mental
functions : (

April has been a good friend to me, and I feel
so sad for how she is suffering. She certainly
deserved better out of life than to go through
so much trauma at such a young age.

Please pray that God will help April to regain
her health. I believe in miracles, and she truly
is in need of one.

Thanks in advance for your concern : )

How can Christians be so smug if they truly believe everyone but them is going to Hell? Jesus told his followers to love, first and foremost. Is that love, smugly condemning everyone but yourself to Hell?

even though tthey dont believe in him and also isnt it interesting that people all around the world pray? Like some people will pray before they eat even though they dont believe in God.

Acts 17:22-31
22Paul then stood up in the meeting of the Areopagus and said: "Men of Athens! I see that in every way you are very religious. 23For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO AN UNKNOWN GOD. Now what you worship as something unknown I am going to proclaim to you.

24"The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. 25And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else. 26From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. 27God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. 28'For in him we live and move and have our being.' As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.'

29"Therefore since we are God's offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone—an image made by man's design and skill. 30In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. 31For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead."

Are people who read the bible and call it fantasy.. then go off and read some other piece of literature, and set up idols to the heroes of those stories, are they really just setting fictional characters to high status than God?

I dunno, I guess they do that, but is it reasonable, to set up toys and superheroes, to a higher status than God, even if each were fictional?

Strange, I think that meets the criteria for being a hypocrite, and if not, they are just plain.. strange.
Frodo, or God, or both? Both? Not possible, unless you don't set up idols and worship them, and admire them for their genius writings, and ability to use an imagination.

Agree?

Muslims culture is playing on what they consider to be a weakness in western culture. That weakness being the non offensive campiagn where goverments make sure everyone is equal and that non one is treated with injustice sonds nice doesnt it. well when you come from a copuntry where you either do what your told or Die, and you see a goverment and its leaders so quick to change their opions and positions on issues, they see that as a weak nation. So to make sure they get their way all thet time they make it out that they are being persucuted, when in reality Christians in western society are being persecuted more, but like a cheating lover they stay on the super defensive, so that your so busy trying to prove your not doing anything wrong that you dont see what they've done, and wont see what their dong.
