CHRISTMAS. If they do they are going against what they believe. Everyone celebrates CHRISTMAS. There will be not CHRISTMAS without CHRIST, I feel so sorry for you all. But I will pray for you.

Do most people's Christmases have anything to do with Jesus? Sure you put out the nativity scene, but the thing is about iving and receiving presents. It's a capatilist holidays. Yeah there are some people who go to Midnight mass but the vast amjority doesn't. it 's an occasion to enjoy your family and for your family to enjoy you. To give and to recieve. We're not postulating on the gound or weeping for the Lord. We're not bringing franckisence and myrrh, it's jsut Christmas. And many atheists I know do celebrate.
And your saying EVERYONE celebrates Christmas? not true, I'm sorry. Jewish people and Muslims don't celebrate Christmas. Neither do most people of other religions.

Yes, there would be a chrismas without christ.
Christ has nothing to do with christmas, except the name.
Christ was not born in the winter time, so it isn't his birthday,
he did not make up santa clause, nor christmas trees, nor basically anything that we think of as christmas.
Athiests celebrate whatever and whenever they choose to, and are completely free from having to buy into all that pagan crap that the holy mother church has put on you poor suckers that get your directions from a pedophile on sunday. (which, by the way, isn't the sabbath, although I know you have been told diferently)
Why don't you wake up, and find out what you really believe instead of having it force fed to you by the popular culture?

What a dumb question.
Almost every Jew I know celebrates christmas, so what of that?
Christmas is just another family holiday. Until the mass consumerism is taken out of the equation I won't believe differently.
I feel sorry for you that you waste your time thinking about things like this. And keep your prayers...we don't want or need them.

There is no atheist "belief" that admonishes celebrating a commercial holiday (of pagan origins) with family and friends. Atheists are WITHOUT beliefs in a god or gods. That's it. The rest is up to the individual. It is just as permissible for a person without belief in the Christian deity to celebrate the season by giving gifts and having dinner with loved ones as it is for those of the religious persuasion.

Feeling sorry for us is just a way to make yourself feel superior. Please don't drag me into your delusions of grandeur... I won't play along.

They are being hypocritical because why compromise with family members and others on this holiday if you hate religion and all it stands for? If they say that celebrate something else then they are worshiping false gods like trees and such which is paganism but atheists don't worship anything supposedly yet they do otherwise. Go figure. They need much prayer!

Christmas was a pagan holiday before it was appropriated by Christianity. I personally don't have much need for observing any cultural traditions, but my wife (who is agnostic and areligious) likes the tradition so I go along. Heck, if we didn't have Christmas we'd need to invent some other excuse to have a week long vacation centered around family.

Christmas was originally a Pagan holiday, you know.

And I am an Agnostic, but most of my relatives are Christians, so yes, I celebrate Christmas with them. It is a time for love, for family, for joy. if you don't believe you don't have to put any meaning behind it but that.

I don't need to be religious to be part of a family celebration where we make an effort to demonstrate our love and affection for each other. God doesn't make me do it. It's something I choose to do.

For everyone's sake, grow up.

i believe they do, because christmas has become so commercial that hardly anyone remembers the true meaning anymore. by the way i personally appreciate what you are getting at here but prepare for ugly answers.

There would not be Christmas if it wasn't for the Winter Solstice. I do not celebrate Christmas.
