Christianity has a sad history. It is embarassing to think of acts which have been commited in the name of Jesus.
Just as it is embarrassing to see the comments and actions of today's Christians.
It is very clear that the Christians of the crusades were acting out in direct contrast to what their scripture teaches.
Yes, the crusades were VERY wrong.

That is an excellent question, and I definitely appreciate the chance to answer. Yes, Christianity had mainly spread by force, coercion, etc. at its "inception." However, one cannot ignore the many converts, slave and otherwise, who had/have willingly followed the teachings of Jesus Christ. To answer the main point of your question, for me Christianity is right. Note the "for me." There is a verse that is quoted often against Christians, "Judge not, that you be not judged," (Matthew 7:1) that for me means that only I can decide what is right for me. I have absolutely no right to condemn another for their beliefs. I might try to talk to others and share with them how my life is different since I became a follower of Jesus, don't get me wrong. And I recognize that there have and there are many Christians who do not feel the same way I do. In fact, I'm sure I'll hear from at least one on this matter. As to your last point, you're referring to the two largest population groups in the world, India with 1 billion people and China with 1.3 billion. If each country only had 2% Christians, that's still 46 million people. That's a very large number. It's just possible that Christianity is not right for them. So, there's your answer from me. Hope it helps!

When seeking to understand true christianity it is important to study the teachings of Christ - the focus of our faith. This is not a religious institution but an attitude of heart held by many true christians worldwide and a personal faith in Christ that transcends any organisation of this world. The peace, beauty and perfection that Christ offerred to us have never been surpassed and a more perfect life has never been lived.
Just as I could not assess the merits of the muslim faith by looking at the behaviour of a suicide bomber I do not feel you can properly assess the merits of christianity on the actions of people who called themselves christians but did not follow the path of peace that Christ set for us. A quick comparison of the teachings of Christ to the behaviour of some people who have claimed to be christian and acted in this way would quickly disqualify them and show them to be false converts.
Even most people who have not read the bible have heard the teaching of Jesus to love your enemies, pray for those who persecute you and turn the other cheek. I pray that God will bring true, genuine believers and followers of Christ in your path that you may experience the genuine article. True christianity produces converts who are selfless, loving and genuine.

Yes, Judaism, Christianity and Islam have all had violent periods. Hopefully all three religions can outgrow these youthful tantrums and grow to become as they truly should be. I believe that since the religion of Islam is younger than the other two, it still needs to outgrow this. It is not good for the faith, as one needs to come to belief through their own free will.

There have been times when the Christian religion was abused and people were forced to convert. However, this is against the plain doctrine of Christianity and scripture, which insists that people be persuaded, not forced.

You may know a lot about history of the Catholic Church, but I am Christian not Catholic.
You have no clue about the present. In China where it is illegal, and punishable by imprisonment and even death, underground churches are spreading like wildfire.

I agree with your thesis about the catholic churches involvment in the crusades as well as other actions over the centuries.... remember friend not everything done in the name of God is ordained by God.... If I go rob someone and say Im doing it in the name of God.... that dosnt obligate God to ordain my action. As for your statement on China..... im sorry to tell you that your sadly misinformed..... the Bible is being printed and sent to China at a phenomenal rate.... they actually have waiting lists there to recieve a Bible as they cannot be printed fast enough. They are not able to print them inside the country due to governmental resistance to doing that..... however they are being printed in several countries and shipped in as fast as they can be printed.... the gospel of Jesus Christ is rushing through China at an amazing speed.
