Muslims and pork---I'm confused?

Question

Ok, I'm confused as hell. If I convert to Islam in order to date this hot muslim chick I know---I won't get to eat pork or drink beer again?

I guess where I'm getting confused is that I can't have some brewskis and pork chops at a barbecue, but I can blow myself up or fly a plane into a building?

I don't understand---can someone explain this to me.

Yep--- Pork is bad for your health and is strictly forbidden in islam.

Blowing ones self up is NOT bad for the health.

The blowing up the buildings or flying into planes has nothing to do with being Muslim or not. Those who did those acts are only the fanatics. It is the same as Christians and Westboro Baptist Church. (If you do not know what I am talking about, look them up on Wikipedia.)

Now back to your question. I myself am not Muslim, so I do not know the exact answer. As far as I understand, they do not eat pork or drink beer as they believe it to be "unpure." If you want to go further into this, you would have to go to someone other than me.

If I might add one last thing: Converting just to date a girl is a very bad reason. You are not treating religion with the respect that it deserves. I myself am agnostic, but I still respect religion enough to understand that it is morally wrong to convert for a mortal being.

Look at it this way, in order to believe what they do you have to be off. You would be hard pressed to find 72 virgins anywhere in today's society, sad but true. So where in the world or out of this world do they think there could possible be 72 virgins for each and every martar. It makes God sound more ike a pimp. Now don't get me wrong I am a christian and I love the Lord but the way they look at our Lord is really sick. That the fanatic Muslims can convince their followers of this throws all reason and common sense to the wind. Both Muslims Jews and certain Christian sects believe that eating pork is against the law. Muslims and certain Christians also believe that alcohol is against the law.
If you read the old testament you will find this law laid out, it is what we call eating kosher ( not eating things that God told us not to ). This belief is also written in the Quran. Seventh Day Adventist Christians believe the same thing and keep kosher by being vegetarian.
It is also against Muslim beliefs to kill other people I am sure as they also believe in the the 5 books written by Moses that contain the ten commandments.
The people that blow themselves and others up are not following Islamic teachings either, they are fanatical extremists like David Koresh of the Waco Branch Davidians, ( an extremist Christian )

Sure just as in Christianity where you can be pro-life and kill abortion clinic workers. On the other hand trust me, halal meat tastes much better than the stuff they sell in supermarkets mascarading meat, but then of course so does kosher meat. So if you ask me, both Islam and Judaism are better than christianity in gastronomical standards. By the way, sorry but no dating in Islam. On the good side though you can marry 4 women in return. Obviously, you are not totally convinced about your conversion, so my advice to you is not to convert.

Dating a "hot" Muslim "chick" and "pork" and "beer" are superficial issues that are preoccupying your mind. I don't hear any serious reasons for you to convert.

Convert, only if you are educated on the teachings of Islam, and want to practice the religion for your sake, not for someone else's sake.

well as a Muslim, girls are not allowed to date. Secondly we are not allowed to eat pork or blow ourselves up either. In terms of beef, the way one slaughters the animal is important, some Muslims follow this some eat beef from anywhere, prepared anywhere, there are recommendations about this beef issue in the Quran and the use of those depends on interpretation, peace to you all
