"the bible commands us to support israel". I realize most christians are not this dumb, but when I see it I notice three parts:

1. the other countries in the mid-east are uncivilized
2. israel loves peace
3.they share are democratic ideals
4.God prefers jews (may God forgive anyone who thinks in this fascist way...and calls themselves christian, embarrassing a good religion)

This question is mainly directly for christians who agree with any of the above, for "biblical reasons" and who wish to justify these beliefs.

1. civilization originated in the middle east, you have never even talked to an arab I bet, and as far as what's civilized and human, I hardly would include colonialism/settlement building/killing children everyday (this goes unreported- and when it does get media coverage, people rationalize it to fit with their beliefs about who is "good" and who is "bad" instead of asking real questions)

2. this nation was founded on colonialism, rape, and mass slaughter as a means to scare away natives from the land they wanted to claim. if it was God-given, then why would God have made these disgusting tactics necessary in order to "clear the land for civilized people"?

3. by`deifnition, a democracy has respect for minority rights. for example, a country where whites are maybe 10% and the rest black and the blacks elect a pres. to scale back rights for whites, this is not true democratic principle.
israel does not allow arabs to drive on the same roads as jews and makes them carry special IDs to segregates them, our biased media does not feel like this is worth reporting though.

4. sorry for any racist who believes number 4- christianity is not about prefering one kind over another. "christians" used to use the Holy Bible to justify this way of thinking about the blacks (curse of canaan anyone?)

epicarus: you're right, we shouldn't take a side. amercia/christianity is not about taking a side. christianity should promote negotiation, justice, cooperation- not helping one side dominate the other.

also, america and israel have done much worse than that- abu graib, gauntanamo, bombing entire nations. don't have such a selective memory

retro!: thanks for summing up what I perceived to be the ignorance of your doctrine which does not, btw, correlate with the bible. ok, do you think a kind, fair, loving God would

a)need his mere creations to act to bring Him back- couldn't the Allmighty do this on his own?

b) if He did need humans which He doesn't, then why would he want his people to do it through channels of destruction and domination?

Ok the bible is a book about Israel

Other nations are only mentioned when and how they come into contact with Israel.

The god of the old testament is very racist - You can not marry a stranger Remember the Jacob at the well story he had to wait for an Israelite to show up

The book also devotes a lot to chossing one liniage over another god loved jacob but he hated Esau Jacob loved Ratchel but hated Leah etc

Noah was the only one of "pure strain" in those days - Now a lot and I mean a lot of arguments have erupted over what that meant "pure strain" racially ? Pure morally etc. And no I am not touching that one with a 10' pole

Nonetheless the old testament and the new to a lesser degree are example of zenophobia to the extreme.

Hope that helps

The bible has no problem with slavery (niether does jesus) the bible has no problem with public whipping the bible has no problem killing people who have other gods in fact it's an order from god to moses to kill people who aren't in line

I sincerely hope you have an open heart to hear this. From the sounds of things, you're Muslim. Muslims have a justifiable reason to distrust Jews, and the opposite can also be said. As Christians, we are the middle brother who (should) seek peace and mediation.

The reasons Christians support Jews being in Israel is because we understand it as a necessary function to happen before God returns to earth again. We also understand that this will probably incite the WWIII, which is what our religious books affectionately call Armaggeddon.

In Christian philosophy, both Jews and Muslims error in their pursuit of God. We believe the only true path is that of following Christ. (I am not knocking other ppl's religions here, so please don't be offended. I recognize that anyone sincerely looking for God will find Him.) So, with that in consideration, we don't agree with Jews. We do see their point, as we see the Islamic point of view as well. The bottom line is the reason we support Jewish Israel is because we basically want God to return as soon as possible-- and it won't happen before they are in control of Israel.

Are you serious? I hate to break it to you, but the Jews ARE God's chosen people. You want to call someone racist then you better call God that too. God loves whom He loves and God hates whom He hates. He is the creator, we are the clay. He can do with His creation as He pleases. God blesses those that bless Israel and curses those that curse Israel.

Gentiles who believe in Jesus were adopted as children of God into His flock. This is the result of the Jews disobedience and the fact that they didn't accept Jesus as the Messiah.

You opened a brilliant can of worms there. In my journey, there is not any changing a die-difficult racist, bible-thumper's opinion... on something (somewhat gun administration). the only element you may wish for is to assist them study to be respectful and to maintain their damaging (ignorant) evaluations to themselves. For the main section - the "form" of individual you defined is often uneducated, and entirely happy being that way (and consistently suitable... mhm...) So I hate to declare it, yet changing their perspectives is purely about impossible (till of direction you may create some form of miniature miracle that would magically convince them). *decide for coaching tolerance, fairly than dropping it sluggish changing evaluations.

I don't know why & I'm ashamed to say that some are. It's terrible to say that anybody is racist at all, but that's the hateful world we live in. Christian's are suppose to love & understand love more than those who don't know Christ, because of the love Christ has for us. I'm sorry if this has affected you in a personal way, but please don't believe we all think like that.
Lord Bless

so what exactly is your question ?? your comment that civilization originated in the middle east is valid... and i have talked to arabs...and actually have some friends in saudi arabia...as far as the rest.... arab history and current tradition is just as ruthless and bloodthirsty as any other culture...so what is your point... ??
i dont believe God prefers Jews (or anyone else for that matter) ..but i do believe that the Israelites are His chosen ppl ....
the jews are but one tribe of 12 (the tribe of Judah)
... i do not believe God plays favorites....and we are all His children
so if your point is to point out how bad "we" are and how misunderstood you are ...save your breath.... you have no grounds to do so ....

I would ask, that maybe you consider that everyone that claims to
be Christian, perhaps their not!!In the book of Matthew in chapter
24,Christ states;"And many false prophets will arise and mislead
many..and then he says.."And because of the increasing of law-
ness the love of the greater number will cool off.The times in
which we live attest to that..in 2nd.tim.3:1-5,It clearly shows the
attitudes and actions of the majority of the people living today.God
has stated in his word the Bible that any one..Jew,gentile,black,or
white, is acceptable to him, oriental or native american,ALL people
he loves and does not want to see any one parish. But of course
millions will, because they will not accept what he has given us..
namely; He does not want us to be part of this world(satans world)
He does not want us to mix in with the political element,or the
false religions of chrisendom,Rev.17:10-13..and soon now the
political element will turn against (The harlot) the world wide
orginazation of false religion. And destroy her completley..
Rev.17:16..In Matt.7:13,14.Jesus states."Go in through the
narrow gate, because broad and spacious is the road leading
off into destruction,and MANY are the ones going in through it;
whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading OFF
into life and FEW are the ones finding it." HE also said "And they will come to me and say;Lord,Lord, did we not prophsey in your
name and do many fine work in your name?AND I will yet say to them.'Get away from me you workers of lawlessness.'If you
would like some serious answers to your questions I would like

Let me answer a question with a question: Why are people; Jew, Christians,Muslim, most all religions so blinded by their beliefs and faiths, that they fail to see what their religious texts tell them? All of them preach brotherhood and humanity and the abolishing of hate or isn't anybody paying attention?!

Or you only can support "chosen" people?

Well, let me enlighten you. Christians are Jesus' "Elect".
