My ne'r do well aunt has had her car reposessed. This is one in a lifelong pattern of financial irresponsibility. She can however provide her spoiled out of wedlock daughter with the absolute most expensive clothes, lessons, parties, etc. She has money for what she wants to do with it, but cant pay her rent. Now she wants everyone in the family to bail her out. She is playing on the fact that she knows some of us are Christians and therefore it is our duty to come to her aid. She is a horrible parent, self centered like you read about, goes from job to job, food stamps the whole bit, but spends all her money on what SHE wants and not on her responsibilities. I DON"T want to help her. Do I have to... biblically?

God created the universe but the laws of physics predicts that at the beginning of the universe there was nothing rational. Nothing outside and since there was noting outside where was god? Inside? But if you answer is "inside" explain why?

Because as far as I know the laws of physics make no sense at all inside when the universe exploited at that point. Or in other words God could not have been inside either.

Where was God? Where scientist call it singularity?

All religions are a serious threat to our world. When someone says they are religious, they should be laughed at and not taken seriously on anything. It should be nearly impossible for someone with a religion to get a decent job because his fellow man should think that he is crazy. I mean would anyone take me seriously if I said that the greek gods ran the world and that I would die for Zeus? Our world really needs this change before nuclear weapons are even more prolific than they are now.

Just wondering about this because I've seen a lot of Goths wearing crosses. Many people keep saying that Goths worship "the Devil" because they wear black and so on and so forth. I don't really believe in "God "and I'm Goth but I don't worship the "Devil". When I wear crosses, like on earings or a necklace, people are always saying crap like "How dare you disgrace our lord and savior!?" and stuff like that. What's the deal?

Pope Benedict has managed to antagonise two major world faiths within a few months.

He quoted a 14th-century Byzantine emperor's insult of the Prophet Mohammed.

He gave a long address at the site of the former concentration camp and failed to mention anti-semitism, and offered no apology - whether on behalf of his own country, Germany, or on behalf of the Catholic Church. In fact he managed to argue in a long theological exposition that the real victims of the Holocaust were God and Christianity.

This is a man who has long been famous for his bruising, ruthless condemnation of those he disagrees with.

This is a man with little sympathy or imagination for other religious faiths. Famously, the then Cardinal Ratzinger once referred to Buddhism as a form of masturbation for the mind.

If the Catholic church is to make a dramatic break with its triumphalist, bigoted past and is to contribute in any constructive way to an increasingly educated faithful, is this man up to it?

Isn't the greatest Christian virtue the ability to suspend disbelief? The Bible does say that the unforgivable sin is denying the holy spirit. It also tells you not to doubt.

There are hundreds of religions, in the world. The followers of any one of them will readily provide “evidence” for their religion’s credibility. And by evidence, of course, I mean things with completely reasonable, non-religious explanations, that they either refuse to acknowledge or are too damn stupid to understand.

Most people who follow a religion have had experiences that have convinced them that their religion is the correct one. Their senses and mind are overwhelmed by the experience, so much that it effects their perspective.

Understanding that every member of every other religion has the same “compelling” evidence and level of personal experience as you, pointing to their own religions as the truth, how can you possibly claim to know that you are correct? What makes your senses, and your perception, more reliable than theirs? Or do you think you are better educated? Than anyone who follows any other religion? What makes you right, and everyone else wrong?

First of all let's get it stright , Muslims dont worship the same God as we Christians, because we worship the God of the Jews, where as they worship the God of the Arabs. ask any Muslim what God did the Arabs worship before Islam, and guess what it's still Allah. Because he's always been a Pagan god http://www.freewebs.com/king_of_crusade

Wny do you hate gays, who have never hurt you and just want to live their lives, yet seem to hardly care at all about much more important thingd, like murder, robbery, rape, and war. Why can't you leave those poor people alone and commit your energies to trying to end some of the worlds bigger problems?

God the creator only wants perfection around Him. He only wants those that will honor Him and worship Him only. Isn't that kind of self centered and if not, why not?

One of the strange aspects of life I finally came to accept is how unpredictable life is. You never expect people so close to you, or so young would suddenly die from illness, car accident, heart attack, etc. But that is how life is and I came to accept it now.
But one thing that I have constantly been wondering is this. How does God decide which person is to die any given day? I see a lot of good, innocent people dying every day on TV or newspaper and it doesn't make sense to me at all. They were doing good things and they didn't deserve that.
On the contrary, I see evil, wicked, mean people living prosperous, rich life, just enjoying life. It disgusts me to witness such injustices.
Back to the main Q, how does God decide which person is to die any given day? Why would He sometimes end young people's lives which were barely blossoming? Thanks in advance for any insights.

I know the devil wears a red Leotard, but I what I don't understand is this:

1. Why does he want to cast my wretched soul into a lake of fire, where ghoullish demons and flesh eating freaks torment me for all of eternity?

2. What can I do to foil his dastardly plans?

3. Does it seem strange for a normal, rational adult to believe in a "devil"?
