Just wondering about this because I've seen a lot of Goths wearing crosses. Many people keep saying that Goths worship "the Devil" because they wear black and so on and so forth. I don't really believe in "God "and I'm Goth but I don't worship the "Devil". When I wear crosses, like on earings or a necklace, people are always saying crap like "How dare you disgrace our lord and savior!?" and stuff like that. What's the deal?

I know I already asked this question, but some people weren't taking this seriously.

The people who get offended are worshipping a false idol (the cross). It is the symbol of our faith but we are explicitly commanded to not worship any symbols. That is called idolatry and it is a sin.

You can't tell the reasons for someone wearing a cross so they are probably just idiots, and like you don't know what it means to actually be a Goth. If indeed, it is possible.
Try wearing an upside down cross or a pentagram. That will piss them off even more and show that you're really serious about the whole goth thing. Also try wearing more black.

If you do not believe in God, then what do you believe in?
I mean, why a cross. If you are just exercising your individuality, and not trying to offend any body, why "push it". That's what a large portion of society think, so I have been told.
It may be your subconscious wearing the cross because you do believe.
It's like; A car full of "non-believers" goes hurdling off a cliff. What would most people say? "Oh my God!"
Is that the real you telling you it's too late? Your inner being? Sole?
Not trying to offend, just giving you something to think about.

People do not like change, society is structured to view things in the way they are trained, mostly with tunnel vision, I think goths look great. my daughter went through the goth stage and still wears the look sometimes.
different is good as long as it does not hurt any one or thing
go for it good luck take care

They say it to you because you are easy prey to pick on, being 13 years old. They may well say it for their own benefit, not yours, thus being guilty of pride. If you were Madonna you would have a pack of bodyguards 20 layers deep to keep such people away from you. If you were a 340 pound 6 foot 5 thug wearing a cross upside down they would keep quiet as well. Most people have convictions but lack courage and perspective, so they pick on the weak.

Shadow, you're on Y!A...a lot of people don't take it seriously. Just ignore them in the future.
And I was being perfectly honest when I stated that my son's girlfriend is a vampire, or at least she thinks she is. Teeth, goth, dark, spooky. But she's a delight, and we love her dearly.
As for why other people do what they do....who can say? Misunderstanding, fear, ignorance. Pick your reason.
There are plenty of good people in this world who won't judge a person for any reason at all.
Those are the people you concern yourself with. No one elses opinion matters.

Are you Catholic? Catholics invented Gothic. So you seem true to the style. I dont know who invented down home ignorance? But some people will freak out or get offended over anything. Chances are it has nothing to do with religion anyway.

Well, the cross is a religious symbol and there are no shortage of religious nutcases looking to take offence at anything people do that "offends" their religious beliefs. But you face a minor problem. Being gay and expecting freedom in the US is almost impossible.

What's a Goth? A poorly dressed person that wears a cross?
A priest gone bad? A "born again" cross bearer? Or a self centered retard? Yes!!!!
