How many pastors do you know personally? I would guess none. I have had contact and interaction with many pastors of various denominations, and none have ever come off as thinking they are perfect, in fact, most are very humble. They do not condemn people, we condemn sin, that is our job.

A true pastor knows he is not above anybody, he's just a man like everybody else. If a pastor is not first preaching to himself , then he is decieving himself, and is therefore a hypocrite.

If you've got a pastor behaving like this, then I think it's time to find another pastor!
"Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."

My dad was a minister and the first semon he ever preached in a new church he told the people never to beleive a word that came out of his mouth. and then he backed that up with unless they studied the texts in the sermon for THEMSELVES and found them to be true. Any preacher that cannot hold up the Word of God first and foremost and admit that they are human just like the rest of us is not to be followed or trusted.

When faced with such a pastor, it's time to get another one more humble. They represent God but they aren't God. I guess it is so easy for their egos to grow, but that doesn't make it right. In my opinion, they are even more accountable than their flocks for their behavior.

Did you know that "the church" (religions in general) attract more psychopathic people than any other group/organization/profession? Not to say that everyone at a church is a psychopath, but in a random sample you'd find more there than in a general population (Otis and Myers, Abnormal Psychology).

I think (my opinion) that many clergy use their position to maintain power over other people. It isn't about religion at all for them.

It's their job. Why do sinners continue to sin and then sin again. We all have a purpose in this world.
