So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen.

For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:18 (NIV)

In God's eyes the greatest heroes of faith are those who achieve prosperity, success, and power in this life, but those who treat this life as a temporary assignment and serve faithfully, expecting their promised reward in eternity.
Your time on earth is not the complete story of your life. you must wait until heaven for the rest of the chapters. It takes faith to live on earth as a foreigner.

I am a Christian, but according to some Republicans I know, I can't be a Christian because I'm also a liberal. Why is this? Are all Republicans this close minded? They told me flat out that I am going to hell because I'm a liberal. Does anyone care to explain this?

I'm a mormon, and I understand where a lot of rumors come from, like polygamy (which is DEFINITELY not a mormon practice), but I just don't understand where the "mormons have horns" comes from. So please help me understand. Why do you think I have horns, when, very very logically, I don't.

"Why Don't Real Jews Believe In Jesus?"

It's not because of some crazy mass conspiracy amongst rabbis for the last 2000 years to specifically deny the messiah (?!).
Rather, the answer is simple: Jesus did not fulfill a single requirement of the messiah, and fulfilled a few criteria which would specifically DISqualify him.

So please explain to me why this is so difficult to understand?
Why do christians insist on asking us how we could possibly *not* believe in him. Or why we want to go to hell? etc.. etc..
And why do christians think they know what jews believe (or their motiviations) better than jews?!

And why, oh why, can't christians just call themselves christians instead of this "j4j" nonsense?! Stop beating around the bush! Stop hiding your true identity! This wolf in sheeps clothing act is despicable! (David! *cough*cough*)

Alot of people ask why, what, how questions about others faith and still don't listen for the answer. I would like to know why that is and also ask this.

In your personal beliefs, what is it that makes it ok to attack another based on the belief that he/she may have? Does tollerance exist in all religions or is it everyone for themselves in the religious world.

The most thoughtfull answer will be most appreciated

I'm going to this girl's house in a couple of days and I was wondering what I should say. I haven't talked to her in a few months so I don't really know how things are going. I am going with someone else who has been in touch with her, but that isn't going to stop me from looking dumb. Any suggestions? By-the-way this is a very smart and hardheaded girl. She likes to do things on her own. And I am going into this with the intent to speak about God and church.

Question for Christians:

What I am going to say right now is not realistic, but it could be a possibility.

Imagine that suddenly Christianity gets banned in your country. All the Churches are closed. No one is allowed to preach, nor talk about God in public.

Think about it as a communist country where the government forces you to do what they want. Democracy is completely gone. There is no freedom of speech.

How do you imagine your country and the World to be?

Literal fire or Figurative Fire?
Sodom was punished with "eternal fire" (Jude v. 7) it was totally destroyed due to the wickedness of the inhabitants. Today that city is in ruins, submerged beneath the waters of the Dead Sea; in no way is it now on fire. Likewise Jerusalem was threatened with the eternal fire of God's anger, due to the sins of Israel: "Then will I kindle a fire in the gates thereof, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be quenched" (Jer. 17:27). The great houses of Jerusalem were burnt down with fire (2 Kings 25:9), but that fire did not continue eternally.
Therefor is the fire literal or figurative?

1. Most Christians didn't decide to become a Christian. They were born into it

2. People usually dont question their culture(belief in god) but they will question their belief.(does ghost exist)

3. If the belief in God is really a belief, you wouldn't have a problem questioning it withour being bias. It must be a culture because you refuse to let it go no matter how sick it sounds

According to those who claim Jesus condoned military service, why didn't the early Christians fight rather than allow themselves and their wives and daughters be thrown to the lions?

And for those who don't know, early Christians were required to make religious sacrifice to Caesar. If they refused they were to be thrown to the lions. They didn't sacrifice and they didn't fight back. According to some of you, Jesus condoned self-defense. How is it you believe this but the earliest Christians didn't?

and that He loves both of us equally, yet hold an unswerving belief that the Bible is the infallible Word of God? I've read both old and new testaments numerous times and women received punishment when they commit adultry etc. more often than men. In addition to this King David, hailed to be the greatest king in Biblical history had hundreds of wives as well as concubines! Why wasn't any conviction or punisnment for this documented.? In addition Solomon who had an even greater number of women wrote approximately 1/3 of the book of Proverbs on wayward and adulterous *women*! Why should a woman believe that the Bible was written by God and not chauvanistic men? PS: I was a devout Christian for 12 years and I am *very* familiar with the Bible....
