Doesn't it go something like "a day is to a thousand years as a thousand years is to a day"?

Who is to say Adam did not live for a billion years in harmony with creation and in harmony with God? No evolution, no argument about floods or dinosaurs. ADAM LIVED FOR A BILLION YEARS BEFORE HE WAS THROWN OUT OF THE GARDEN WITH EVE.
Maybe longer...

Kill Ethiopians? This is including Ethiopian innocent children obviously.

If you say we should not take the old testament literally, the Adam and Eve story goes down the drain

God Will Kill Ethiopia

"You Ethiopians will also be slaughtered by my sword," says the LORD. And the LORD will strike the lands of the north with his fist. He will destroy Assyria and make its great capital, Nineveh, a desolate wasteland, parched like a desert. The city that once was so proud will become a pasture for sheep and cattle. All sorts of wild animals will settle there. Owls of many kinds will live among the ruins of its palaces, hooting from the gaping windows. Rubble will block all the doorways, and the cedar paneling will lie open to the wind and weather. This is the fate of that boisterous city, once so secure. "In all the world there is no city as great as I," it boasted. But now, look how it has become an utter ruin, a place where animals live! Everyone passing that

why don't I quit yet? Quit smoking? I beg, I plead, I ask for help and how to use his help, what am I doing wrong? Honestly? Tell me the truth all believers in Christ. If I am doing something wrong, tell me. I have no discipline and am extremely weak. If you gotta be harsh I can take it, I just need to know what I can do to quit to serve God fully. I feel I am cheating myself and him by being a smoker, that is not what he wants me to do. Please help. Thanks in advance to everyone with serious answers.

Who thinks it is sad that so many "educated," non-Christians think that Christians are "uneducated?" If you spend 20 years being educated to understand a lie like evolution, then you are just as ignorant as when you started. You may be convinced that you are intelligent because of all those people who CHOOSE to believe the lie that you believe have given you degrees and honors telling you how intelligent you are. A "good" education depends on the subject which is being learned (truth or lies) and what it ultimately accomplishes for other people. I was educated about evolution for 20 years and had no clue about truth until I started examining the evidence from both sides of the creation/evolution debate and then chose to believe what the Bible says. How many of you "educated" mockers and haters of Christianity have ever read and studied the entire Bible with as much effort as you study your precious BELIEF in evolution, which is just one of the doctrines of the religion of Secular Humanism?

The debate about our evolutionary origins was effectively settled well over 100 years ago. Many intelligent people of those days, including clergymen, recognised that all living organisms are related by common descent, including humans, but they didn't have a clear idea about the mechanism involved. Darwin settled that debate by describing the mechanism - natural selection - in detail, and supporting it with a wealth of evidence.

Today, the only effect of denying evolution is to tacitly admit that reality is fatal to your own religious beliefs. Hence if theists are sensible, they will do what believers always do when faced with uncomfortable scientific facts which contradict their beliefs - They will change their beliefs. This is how the game has been played for hundreds of years.

To maintain a position against our evolutionary origins today is to admit that your religious beliefs are contradicted by reality. It's hard to see why anyone would want to do this.

Evolving is a sin. God made you with love and created you to be completely unique - different in a way that no one else is. To attempt to change that is to go against God's desire for you to be the best that you can be for His sake. Only someone who hates God, desires His creation to be changed so that there is no longer any reference to Him or His intentions.

I have no problem with athiests asking tough questions but some are just stupid. I used to do stuff like this when I was a kid. Maybe I might ask one stupid question before I believed for a joke, but really the same people go on and on.

I am an atheist. But this question is not intended for atheists to take "potshots" at the theists. This is a serious question.

I am told that if I do not believe, I will go to Hell. But if God really is ominpotent and infinitely perfect in every way, I do not think He will give people FREE WILL and then send them to HELL when they exercise it. According to the Bible, that is how it is. Does anyone find this hypocritical or unreasonable by our Creator? Do you think the Bible (or Torah or Quran), since it was written by man, maybe has a small flaw but still could be generally useful as a guide?

Isn't it possible that the Bible is not completely accurate? Is any theist willing to admit this possibility? Can't God still exist but some things such as Hell and God's unforgivingness towards atheists be exaggerated? Religious people claim God is perfect and awesome, yet He is also supposed to have flooded his people and, in other religions, advocated war.

Can someone explain please?

What is the consequences if i choose to Not convert to atheism? nothing right?
What is the consequences if you choose Not to accept Jesus as Savior? U GO TO HELL.

i dont understand why someone can simply push the possiblitity of a place called hell out of their minds, cuz what if it DOES exist? do you realize how hot hell will be? no, won't be a party in hell either, do you think satan wants to party with you while he fries in the fire? is that a 'party mood'?

Anyways, this is not a scare tactic......just plz tell me why the possibility of a place called hell is impossible to you?

There are instances when he referred to him as the father, other times he asked "why have your forsaken me?" I still find this confusing. If he was God, why ask/say these things?

I've been participating in Q&A for a week now. Many non-religious types often say that they feel justified in being down on other people's faith because they're told that they're "going to hell." The problem is that I don't see that response very often. Sure, it comes up when someone says something obviously, blatantly offensive, but when people are being civil, it just doesn't come up. I'll be honest, I don't read the more ingorant questions - there's no point. I'm not sure what answers are appearing there.

I was once an athiest, and I used this excuse myself. Honestly I can't remember anyone actually telling me that I was in danger of going to hell. I know that it was a major issue that I feared about major religions, but no one actually said it to me. I was always worried that I'd never be good enough. So, I used this cop out so I wouldn't have to think about it. Luckily I found Jesus and He told me that I didn't have to be.

I went to my cousin’s first communion, in a beautiful, recently restored, old church. Near the door there is a statue of a saint. I think she is a woman. She has no eyes in her head, and has two eye balls in her outstretched palm, and a quill in the other. Who is she? What did she do?
