Not at all.

Ask yourself if you would hang out with Christ and listen to it.

Does it contain language or a message that would be contrary to your walk with Him?
Would it cause another to "stumble" in their faith if they observed you listening to it?
You need not take it to the point of prudishness but some of the stuff out there is just downright vulgar and obscene.

It depends upon how mature the christian is. If you are just starting out being a christian, I would firmly root yourself in the teachings before venturing out into the worldly items again.

Some of the secular music is just bad. It is not to fill your head and allow you to fail/fall back into a world of sin.

Maturity would help you in deciding if you can deal with that music or not.

I don't think all music is bad. I listen to country music mostly and it doesn't have a lot of violence or suggestive stuff. Some of it does, I won't deny that. It just doesn't have as much as the music that most kids listen to now days. I used to listen to Christian music but my husband at the time destroyed them all saying that they were all bad. I never really got that but that is ok. I divorced him and got better music.

No more than it is wrong to watch the news, football game, or Wheel of Fortune.

Just so long as it doesnt interfere with the believers abiltiy to witness. Do choose carefully though. If Im standing on my porch blasting music full of cursing, drug use, violence, or hatred, am I really able to speak for God if I need to? Would you listen to a person that seemed to be a huge hypocrite? I say choose your music carefully, be entertained, just dont let it cause someone else stumble.

I'm Christian and I listen to many types of music. There's nothing wrong w/ listening to other music genres. I esp love R&B, pop, and even some rock or rap music. I think as long as the music has an acceptable message, then it should be fine.

From a religious point of view it would be OK if the lyrics did not advocate sex or violence. From a musical point of view, why would anyone want to listen to hip hop or rap?

No its not wrong. But for every type of "worldly" music you like there is a Chritian band that plays in the same style.

Ex. remember En Vouge? try Virtue, like hard rock? try Third Day, Boybands? try newsboys.

What you assert is notably precise with the acception that I pay attention to Jazz. it relatively is my dad's job. Lol. i like the previous form hip hop, no longer contemporary rap it relatively is all approximately intercourse, drugs, money, automobiles, etc. previous form hip hop develop into very inventive and non violent. There are 4 aspects of Hip Hop: Graffiti, Emcee, DJ, and the Breaker. Me and my buddies BBoy to Funk, Hip Hop, previous college beats, etc. i'm white, they are all Asian/Pacific Islander. So what you assert is notably real, i think of that's "cool" yet i'm no longer doing it to get basic and look cool to black way of existence. merely like in usa, you have got all mixed races and varieties, in Hip Hop, you have got the comparable. there is gonna be people who BBoy to Techno there is gonna be people who blend funk with rock there is gonna be human beings dressing in yet differently to the originals because of the fact Hip Hop isn't purely a style itself, it is your form the form you interpret/exhibit it. solid question.
