Zionists believe that the area called Israel, including Jerusalem and certain other places, is a Jewish person's rightful home, given to him/her by God. You don't have to be Jewish to believe this.
A Jew is harder to define, because if your mother is Jewish, you are Jewish. However you might not practice Judaism, which is the Jewish religion. But a person can convert to Judaism, and have been born into a non-Jewish family. There are several definitions.

I found this in Wikipedia:

Zionism is a national liberation movement,[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9] a nationalist[10] political movement and ideology[11] that supports a homeland for the Jewish people in the Land of Israel, where the Jewish nation originated over 3,200 years ago[12][13][14] and where Jewish kingdoms and self-governing states existed up to the 2nd century CE. Zionism is a diaspora nationalism [15] which promotes migration to the national homeland. While Zionism is based in part upon religious tradition linking the Jewish people to the Land of Israel, the modern movement was mainly secular, beginning largely as a response to rampant antisemitism in Europe and in many parts of the Muslim world during the 19th century. After a number of advances and setbacks, and after the Holocaust had destroyed much of the existing Jewish society in Europe, the Zionist movement culminated in the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948.

Basically, zionists are jews; they're just a bit more fanatical.

hope this helps.

A Jew is anyone whose ancestors are Jewish, or who has converted to its faith in God. Not all people of Jewish ancestry believe in God and observe the traditions. Zionism is the attachment that some Jews have to the land that God gave them in the time of Moses, which is the area around today's Israel. These are also the areas where Jesus was born, lived and died. The most special place for Zionists is Jerusalem and the Temple.

Zionists may have mellowed in recent years. They were at one time the militant branch of the Jewish peoples. Like the Crusaders at one time were for Christianity. And many Islamic
groups today. Wanting to force their way on others.
