You are basing your assumptions on people who don't even identify themselves as to their religion, nor to their education in that religion. But even if the ones who seemed like they were Christians had somewhat different responses about what Jesus meant that doesn't mean that they were interpreting it that way to make them feel comfortable. It only shows what they thought the person asking the question meant by their question and they were trying to share their understanding.

However, the purpose of the Bible existing is so that there is a self revelation of God to mankind from generation to generation as well as this reason given in the Scriptures.

"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

because if there was NO bible, no one would have power to control the masses. IF you can quote the bible, anything is possible and every weak minded fool will follow you. Religion is subject to everyone's interpretation that justifies their goals; this is the same for ALL religions. Humanity has wide swings of believers, from the weak to the over-religious, each one finding truth in what they want to believe. As long as there is a bible, we will find hidden meanings and we will quote it for many years to come!

People who have not become familiar with the entire Bible may use quotes inappropriately. Those of us who take Christianity seriously understand and know the Bible as a whole. It is the Word of the Lord. Our belief in the Bible reflects the life we lead.

They asked each other, "Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?" -Luke 24:32

Scripture is one of our primary revelations of God. The people opened to the Scriptures by the power of Jesus and the HS dont have a problem using them for the glory of God. Unfortunately, there are false teachers out there using the scripture for their own purposes. They are guilty of breaking the 3rd Commandment and we are warned many times about them!

We don't burn heretics anymore. It is completely safe for anyone to believe anything and call him/her self a "Christian". And the Bible has -so- many stories that can be misinterpreted that just about anything can be justified through the Bible.

Believe it or don't. That's up to you.

Millions of people break the law every day. Does that mean we shouldn't bother with it?

I thought you were supposed to prove your religion to others? How else are you to try to convince them to join you in heaven? As long as you aren't rationalizing dishournable actions, then why not use it?

Bible is about God that you should feel, you shouldn't read it letterly as other religions
