I am a Christian, but according to some Republicans I know, I can't be a Christian because I'm also a liberal. Why is this? Are all Republicans this close minded? They told me flat out that I am going to hell because I'm a liberal. Does anyone care to explain this?

It's a shame when people thinks for other people. Don't get hurt by these answers people tell you. It's wants in the heart that matters. Keep speaking the truth! I'm proud of you!

To you that responded to this question. It says in the Bible Thou Shalt Not Judge. Don't judge people because they don't believe like you do. Treat others with respect. I'm sorry for such a long answer, but It had to be said.

Enough weak and stupid people who are just followers that the Republicans have created a force that controls Christanity in people's minds. I truly believe you can be a liberal or moderate christian.

After all, Jesus was a radical liberal.

i think of initially, the Republican social gathering develop into made up frequently of folk who had Christian values. yet, that majority develop into lost an prolonged time in the past. So, in answer on your question, i think of the Republican social gathering has hijacked Christianity...to apply them for their very own purposes...which has no longer something in besides to do with doing what's right. They throw us Christians a bone or 2 and push the "warm buttons" of abortion and homosexuality to maintain us coming decrease back for greater of their nonsense without real variations in something that relatively concerns to us. even if I even have never been a Republican according to se...I even have been a Christian conservative autonomous who has supported the Republican applicants lots of the time...yet that has ended besides. even in the event that they do no longer stand for each little thing i've got self assurance in...I surely have self assurance at this element that the Libertarians are overall greater efficient than the two the Republicans or the Democrats for usa as an entire...and plan to assist their applicants interior the drawing close election in 2010 and particular in 2012 besides.

Good question - I've run into the same thing. I'll be watching your answers. A lot of religious people are very fearful and narrow-minded, which is ironic. The Republicans talk "values" and if someone is too lazy to really think and investigate this seems to be the road to follow.

How can someone tell you, you are going to hell? I am a Christian, I don't tell anyone they are going to hell, that is between you and God. If you are a Christian, you will know what's right and wrong for your beliefs.
Liberals are for abortion, gay rights and other things that most Christians don't believe in, "that's why".

I always get a kick out of people who claim that Jesus would have been a Liberal.. or visa versa. I do believe that Jesus would not have supported abortion - abortion is generally a liberal belief. He also told his followers to take up their cross and follow Him. Meaning that they should work to get what they want - it will not be handed to them by the government - redistribution of wealth is also generally a liberal belief. Homosexuality was definately not accepted by Jesus - homosexuality not being a sin is more of a liberal view. These areas are some of the biggest reasons people claim that Jesus was a conservitave, but I sure as heck wouldn't bet on it. Your political views do not get you into heaven. Religion won't get you into heaven. Your worldly works will not get you into heaven... Only believing that Jesus died for your sins, repenting of your sins and following Christ will get you into heaven.

As I recall, Jesus was a liberal too. Infact I think he also said something about render that which is unto Caesar. I could just be reading the Bible wrong though, I have been told I need an interpreter.

I wish I could. I'm in the same boat as you. The amazing thing is that George W. Bush calls him self a United Methodist. You should read the Social Principles of the United Methodist Chruch, he doesn't follow very many of them.

I'm weary of the subject, and yes, I feel that the majority of Republicans are as closed minded as they appear to be. I live in a sea of these tight-butted creatures.
