Atheists are simply people who have no need for a belief in god. Many believers find that a belief in god helps them to make sense of the world as they see it. To them, the statement 'I believe in God' is a statement about themselves, not about God. It means that at that moment in time, they find it useful to believe there is some sort of higher force which brings some sort of order to their lives that they think they cannot find on their own. When a believer no longer has need for a god, he or she stops believing.

Atheists only have a quarrel with people who claim that everybody should believe in god, because God is an objective fact which is supported by overwhelming evidence that the atheist is deliberately suppressing. This is not the case. There is no overwhelming evidence for god.

I talking about the so called 7 capital or deadly sins:
Pride-Greed-Lust-Envy-Gluttony-Wrath-Sloth

I've broken all of these, oh well. Live and Live

How about the 10 Commandments:
1)I am the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery. Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.
2)Do not make a sculpted image or any likeness of what is in the heavens above.
3)Thou shalt not swear falsely by the name of the LORD
4)Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy
5)Thou shalt honor your father and your mother
6)Thou shalt not murder
7)Thou shalt not commit adultery
8)Thou shalt not steal
9)Thou shalt not bear false witness against your neighbor
10)Thou shalt not covet your neighbor's house

I believe I've did 5 out of the 10,Dear God what Have I done? I put money ahead of him, there are some good looking neighbors where I live. Just taking staples from work count? Little white lie here and there, never hurt anyone.

So how many have you did?
I'm Atheist.

I could very easily be friends with someone with different religious beliefs, but I feel like I couldn't be in a relationship with someone of a different religion(I'm not talking about different kinds of christianity). I think it would cause to many problems especially when it came time to raise a family. I would want to teach my kids my beliefs. Even if we taught the kids about both religions I think I would feel resentment towards my husband if the kids choose to follow his religion instead of mine. I would feel like they weren't coming to heaven with me and that would upset me. I'm already in a relationship and we have two kids, we are both christians. I just wanted to know what other peoples views were on this topic, and if there is someone who is in this situation, how does it work?

I have heard of all kinds of different religions but I have never heard of a deist. What exactly is that and what makes it any different than the other religions? I am not a theologian but it seems to me that all of the major relilgions have the same basic tenants: trust and worship god, dont kill, dont steal, dont tell lies... Basicaly treat others like you want to be treated. I would welcome an explanation of each that is represented by the members of this on line community. I claim no religion, I do believe in a power greater than myself and have a personal relationship with that power. I'm not looking to be converted am just trying to understand.

I stated that there will be no marriage in the next world.
they quoted the bible as saying mariage to Jesus.
That was symbolic. Luke 20:34 Jesus was answering a question about the resurrection.
There was this women who had 7 brothers. they one after the other died. then she died. which one will she be the wife of in heaven. Jesus answer: The children of this world marry, and r given in marriage. But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain THAT world AND the resurrection from the dead neither marry or are given in marriage. That means no sex! With Jesus or anyone else.

Well right now Im an agostic meaning that I don't know and cant prove that God exists or doesn't. But being a neuroscience major (studying human consciousness and the brain) me and fellow students no longer believe in life after death as we are 90% sure, as is the faculty, that there is no life after death. So what use is believing in Jesus Christ? If consciousness is becoming more and more explainable then need for 'god' becomes less and less.

I was raised a Christian. My priest told us that we should believe in Jesus as our personal Savior. But what would Jesus save us from if there is no life after death as demonstrated by the field of neuroscience? What good is it then to believe in Jesus. Day after day and year after year its literally becoming fact that life after death is false.

Maybe an up-dated version, perhaps a little less confusing ( you know..like this means that in hebrew and this means something besides what it says, ect.), and maybe a bit less contradictory, like where was Jesus after his baptism Mark 1:12-13..John 1:35, 1:43,2:1-11

I'm having a great time. I'm hanging out with some friends, drinking a beer and listening to music, Were talking about philosophy, Rush, astral projection, animal life and consciousness, mysticism, living in the now, knowledge gathering and it is a blast. This is exactly how my idea of heaven would be.
Who else is having a great time?

First book of Samuel, chapter 28:4–25
Isn't witch craft real if the Witch of Endor was able to summon the ghost of the prophet Samuel from his grave, with a talisman.

So since the bible says that a witch brought his ghost back. Doesn't that mean that there are actually Witches and Ghosts?
