Bible says : Thou shall not kill ( so do many other faiths ). Question: What does thou shall not kill entail?

I see Buddhists, Taoists and Hindus attempting to fulfill that vow by going Vegan or Vegetarian... I think its logical coz the Bible did not say thou shall not kill Human Beings...

give thanks to god for all my success or at least the oppertunities given to make myself successful then shouldn't god also get the blame for all my failures? it seems only fair.
and don't tell me blame the devil or satan because god created satan and thereby would still get the blame.

Did you see, hear,or have something to make you take up some kind of religion? Or were you put on the spot and it was the thing to do at the time?Did your parents make you at a young age and the idea of going to hell scared you into believeing or was it something else? This is a serious question to those who believe, I would like to know if there is something I don't know out there...

Well for one I was inspired by GOD and predetermine to the work GOD told me to do.
GOD appeared in vision to me told me to find out how many are Christians are really true Christians. In that vision he explained to me that no matter what I say or do the true Christian response should be the way Jesus and bible teaches them. In Same vision GOD told me that he has no needs or wants to have hypocrites in heaven since he is trying to keep it without sin and confrontations. He personally pointed me out to:

"Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. 1 Peter 2.20-21,23; 3.9 "

I only read the first three chapters and with all the mistakes that i have found, should i continue to read it?
Here are the mistakes....
God makes day and night on the first day and the fourth day, he spilts night and day on the first day and the fourth day?
The sun did not exist intill the fourth day, so we float around with no gravity, and no sun.
God did not make water he made the earth which had water?
God made the heavens and the earth, yet the sky (which is a heaven) Was not made intill the 2nd day?
God made water to be in the sky yet he has to send a mist up from the ground to water the earth?
God made land animals on the fifth and sixth day, yet it says that he made them for adam, who wasnt made intill the sixth day....gen 2:18
Am i missing something or seeing something?

Respectful serious question for everyone. Christmas. How do you feel about the "Happy Holidays" that became politically correct last year. I hated it.

I think private business had the right to call it happy holidays, i think the local governments have the right to put up religious displays that reflect the community,

Remember when we were kids and it was Merry Christmas and Christmas sales.

Or, is this what we all wanted, was to take Jesus out of marketing?

What hobbies or work did you do that enabled you to bring something in your mind into physical creation, and it wasn't a normal task. Something you wanted to do.
This is very spiritual for some.
Best answer get's the 10 points.

(I did make a PB and J sandwich though)

All that you touch
All that you see
All that you taste
All that you feel
All that you love
All that you hate
All you distrust
All that you save
All that you give
All that you deal
All that you buy
beg, borrow or steal
All you create
All you destroy
All that you do
All that you say
All that you eat
everyone you meet
All that you slight
everyone you fight
All that is now
All that is gone
All that's to come

Evolution had to start someplace At every level of existence in the physical universe, from subatomic particles, all the way up to single cell animals & far-flung solar systems, all fit into a hierarchy of being, from simple to complex, as does humanity & sentient intelligence itself. Given that, how can a non-belief system, which perforce must acknowledge this tiered level of existence & also must acknowledge the apparent Intelligence of not only the Human Race, but also the Intelligent design of every facet of existence, fail to also see that we, too, must have been preceded by some greater than our intellectual & physical selves? I submit to you, that it is illogical to acknowledge the existence of Reality, a well-ordered Universe, & sentient Beings, while at the same time refuting the fact that it all must have started at some point in the past, by a vastly superior, intelligent First Cause.

Try to find one incident where this happened in over 6,000 years of recorded warfare. So, why should we believe Mr. Bush and his friends? It's gotta be more than because they said so.

Let me get this straight, if a person who is christian kills, rapes or does some atrocity - goes to church to his priest and into the confession box, says 'father i have sinned....' the priest says 'say so many hail maries and your sin will be forgiven'. Isnt he a sin eater and isnt he the one going to go to hell for all the sins which HE himself cleanses off the people who sinned? (while the real sinner gets off scot free and ends up in haven). If this is true, then no wonder there are so many crimes in the world. Am I right in this assumption?

My father in law and mother in law "appeared" to live without sin. They had perfect social skills. They always knew what to do and what not to do, what to say and what not to say. And that caused me to wonder --- Is what we think of as "sin" just poor social skills? To kill is a "sin." Why? Because the killer just has poor social skills? If he or she had better social skills, would they have known that killing is not a good idea in our society? So, is "sin" just an expression of "poor social skills?"

Agnostic here, not trying to convert anyone.

Philosophically, what is wrong with a religious person telling people that if they don't believe as the person does that they will go to hell? Is there anything wrong with this warning?

Limiting this to the verbal aspect of it, and assumeing they are saying it to an adult, not a child, is this acceptable protected speech in America?

I'm not talking about when Christians go and do bad things like kill Ryan White because he was a homosexual, or try and ban gay marriage because of Romans 1, or try and blow up an abortion clinic, or try and say jesus is the great philosopher and then become President and order men into war. Clearly religious and non religious alike kill or try and legislate the way they feel, havent seen any non christians trying to ban gay marriage but heh, not a lot of atheists blowing up abortion clinics.

Your thoughts?
