The Flying Spaghetti Monster is a deity of a parody religion founded by computer scientist Bobby Henderson in 2005 to protest the decision by the Kansas State Board of Education to require the teaching of intelligent design creationism as an alternative to biological evolution. In an open letter on his website, Henderson professes belief in a supernatural Creator entity that resembles spaghetti and meatballs called the Flying Spaghetti Monster, and calls for Pastafarianism to be taught in science classrooms, essentially invoking a reductio ad absurdum argument against the teaching of Intelligent Design.[1][2]

The followers of The Flying Spaghetti Monster (FSM) call themselves Pastafarians, a play on Rastafarians.

It is called 'pastafarianism'. It is the belief that the universe was created a few thousand years ago by the deific Flying Spaghetti Monster (FSM). He started with a volcano, a tree, a midget, and a pirate (YARRR!).

The holiest day of the year is September 19th, "Talk Like a Pirate Day".

The whole thing was thought up to protest the inclusion of creationism and intelligent design in the classroom. "If you are going to teach this theory, then I demand my religion, Pastafarianism, have it's creation theory taught too!".

I could try, but there aren't any details.

This is how religions get started. There are no details (just as Jesus left no religion) and some fewl asks "What are the details?" so some other fewl starts CREATING details in order to answer the question!

Sheesh!

HERESY.

It's called Pastafarianism, not "Flying Spaghetti Monsterism"

The FSM is our god, not the name of our religion.

I am greatly offended!
