If any member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints practices polygamy, they are excommunicated. There are some who have been excommunicated, that still try to call themselves members, but they are not.

Joseph Smith was NOT a polygamist, and LDS/Mormon members DO NOT practice, support or live polygamy. They think it is disgusting, immoral and WRONG. It is against the law and against the church completely.
Only ignorant listen-to-everybody-else-but-the-direct-source people believe that OLD OLD OLD tale.
Come on people, wake up!
(I live in Utah, have a HUGE family, none of which practices, and yes I do know polygamists, but they HATE mormon's/LDS members and DO NOT believe as the LDS do).

The official church doesn't anymore but members often leave the official church to go practice "real Mormonism" and practice polygamy on their own. This is a product of Mormonism being false from the beginning and Joseph Smith and his partner Brigham Young both being raging polygamists as well as Joseph Smith saying that God is more than one person in body and mind in his "first vision."

We absolutely do not practice polygamy. I've been a member my whole life. The groups in Utah that do are not members of our church. They are groups that broke off from the church years ago, and they don't even use polygamy the way our church did. These groups dont do it because men went off to battle and died leaving families behind, they do it because they are perverts and like marrying 13 year olds. They don't even have the same leaders in their church, so I hate it when people try to say that they are Mormons. If someone in my church tried to practice polygamy then they would be excommunicated.

let's have a look at... there replaced right into a guy who had a creative and prescient in the finest century, and the effect replaced into the Mormon church... subsequently Latter-day saints, as hostile to the before ones. i have in straightforward words been to 2 Mormon facilities. the persons there have been nice, and it looked like a common church... except that THIS church supported its contributors... presented money for those suffering in the adventure that they necessary help making ends meet. that's uncommon (in my adventure in distinct churches) for human beings to be so open and loose with assistance. there replaced into no guilt in touch, merely open palms. i theory that replaced into desirable. My acquaintances who're Mormon look established persons... I even do not recognize if there are any regulations on them in accordance with their type of worship. If there are, it has never arise... yet we do not precisely lead wild lives... we are instructors, and economic corporation managers, and moms, and techies and an excellent purchase of different issues. i don't believe of i could realize a Mormon if I spoke of one (except for acquaintances). Few carry indicators pointing out their faith, or maybe a lot less have "MORMON" written in marker for the length of their forehead :) The Mormon adolescents missionaries are undemanding to p.c.. out, and in straightforward words because they're polite, nicely dressed and state their company. back, nice human beings. no longer pushy in any respect. As for what conception to I actually have about Mormons? similar as all and distinctive else. If i love ya... i love ya. Has to do with the completed man or woman, no longer merely their relationship with the author. suited desires... :)

Some still do, but very few. The Church officially outlawed the practice in 1890. Members who are found guilty of polygamy are excommunicated.

we did along time ago, but the practice of polygamy was stopped before Utah even became a state.
there are some wackos out there that claim to be LDS and practice it, but they aren't members of the church.

Nope. It's funny to read some of the answers here. Even after 100+ years, stereotypes still supercede knowledge for so many... lol

There might be some that still do but the official church teaching I believe is against it now. There was a sect that still practices but I believe they are underground type sects because it is against mans laws now.
