Let me get this straight, if a person who is christian kills, rapes or does some atrocity - goes to church to his priest and into the confession box, says 'father i have sinned....' the priest says 'say so many hail maries and your sin will be forgiven'. Isnt he a sin eater and isnt he the one going to go to hell for all the sins which HE himself cleanses off the people who sinned? (while the real sinner gets off scot free and ends up in haven). If this is true, then no wonder there are so many crimes in the world. Am I right in this assumption?

WHO is he (the priest) to remove someone's sins after they have been committed?! He is no god! He is not Jesus Christ! Only God can cleanse a person from his/her sins. The only way a priest can cleanse a soul from sin is if he eats the sin himself and then he must pay for the sin in hell. NB::: Priests are a new thing and are not under any contract from God. There is no mention of such a thing as a priest in any bible, torah, qran or any other biblical book.

Hi i see,

First of all the practice of the confession box is a Roman Catholic practice. Christians do not say 'Hail Marys' They see Mary as a very important historic figure and obviously God had a special plan for her life- but she is not to be worshipped so thus no Hail Marys. This is a practice of the Catholic Church.

The Bible does teach that we are to confess our sins to the Lord, and God is able to distinguish between what is genuine and sincere and what is not. So it is not a free lisence to sin, in fact the bible warns against this and calls it liscentiousness or lawlessness and it warns that those who continually practice sin are not of the Lord. It does not mean that we won't fail, but it means to consciously continue to practice something that you know is displeasing to God is a dangerous thing to do.

Not sure where you're getting the idea that people can absorb, eat, or absolve other people's sins.

Timothy (can't remember if it was in 1st or 2nd) teaches us that there is only one mediator between man and God, Christ Jesus! So we don't need a priest.

We are to confess our sins to one another, so that we can pray and support one another (it's not for the purpose of forgiveness but for prayer and encouragement). i remember a brother in the Lord confessing his sin to me and he said that it was cool because he expected condemnation and instead received grace and it was through a person that he could see the love of God. Hope this helps...

no the sin eater would cleanse without contrition or repentance and was only called in if the person was about to die...its also a lot of nonesense and superstition btw

confession by a priest requires atonement and repentance and forgiveness is NOT always given btw...its not just saying a few hail marys and all is ok

There are no priests in The Christian Faith

No man, priest, or pope can take your sin for you... or stand between you and God... you must stand before God on your own... believer or not... all will stand before God one day...

No, you are incorrect. They absolve the sin, they do not take it upon themselves.
