Children aren't born "believing" anything. If, when you were a child, your parents told you that the things you didn't understand came from magic.....then gave you a book that said magic was true.....you wouldn't believe it, would you?

Why doesn't this skepticism extend to the bible?

Do you believe because your parents told you to? At some point that was probably the case....so what convinced you that they were right? A personal experience?

I have been wondering what the Church, individual preachers or ministers think of ghosts/hauntings with Christianity. I grew up in an Upstate New York house on a Native American burial ground (also next to a graveyard & old churchhouse) and experienced some very strange occurances. If there are any PREACHERS, CLERGY, or PASTORS that may like to shed their own views on this it would be much appreciated. (I am Nondenominational Christian and welcome to any other denominational answer.)

I have seen it written that people only come to religion through fear of the unknown ie Death. Is this always true? Can spirituality exist without fear?

I've heard some people say that everyone between Adam and Eve and Jesus salvation of people so they wouldn't die from sin ended up in Hell. Is that true? Is the only true way to heaven through Christ if those prior to Jesus got there just fine without him?

Just looked at the official Church of Scientology website. Aside from some wacky beliefs and practices (ie-silent birth & wierd e machine), are the theories (beliefs and practices) of Scientology really that unbelieveable? Many people belive really out-there things, so why do we find the ideas of scientology so wierd?

I mean, if God made man in his image, why would there be men with different features? Furthermore, why would God even bother making so many different varieties of man, and even if he did, why would he separate them geographically for thousands of years. Wouldn't he mix us all together in the same communities?

Doesn't it make more sense that we evolved as humans according to the geographic regions in which we lived?

The bible says that every sin that you have committed was a strip, a beat, a humiliation, a spit in his face, a hit, a torn in his head, and a tear from his eye and a shadder of his heart. But yet he went through all of this so you who do not deserve it could still make it into heaven by Gods grace.

I have only affixed mezuzahs prior to moving into a home while blessing the house. We did not affix mezuzahs when we moved into the apartment we have been living in for 3 months and are experiencing some odd occurances. Thus, I would like to bless the apartment and affix mezuzahs, but I'm wondering if there are additional prayers I should or can say?

Prophet Muhammad (P) said:

"The feet of a son of Adam will not be removed (meaning he will be standing for reckoning until he is asked about the following five), unless he is questioned about five things: his life and how he has spent it, his youth time and how he managed it, his wealth from where and how it has been spent, and his actions how close or far they are from his knowledge."

So, to those of you who say homosexuality is a sin (according to Leviticus 18:22), here are some other things that are a sin, according to your bible...

Shaving (Leviticus 19:27)
Shrimp (Leviticus 11:10)
Tattoos (Leviticus 19:28)
Working on Saturday (Leviticus 19:30)
Polyester (Leviticus 19:19)
Bunnies (Leviticus 11:6)
Vegitable gardens (Leviticus 17:10)
Hamburger (Leviticus 19:19)

Why do you condemn homosexuality, but not these things? They are all abominations to the lord, according to the Bible. Is it unreasonable for me to not take anyone seriously who says "Being gay is a sin!" but who shaves, works on saturday, wears polyester, or has a pet bunny? Your thoughts?

Christians believe Jesus is their Lord and Savior. Jews believe that Jesus was a man on earth (a prophet), but Jews don't believe he is the messiah. Jews think that the messiah is still to come to earth. Mohammad is the Muslims messiah and Muslims think they're the only true religion. They also think you have to earn your way to Heaven. Muslims study the Quaran. The Jewish Bible is only the Old Testament because they don't believe the messiah has come yet. The Christian Bible includes both the Old Testament and the New Testament because we believe the messiah AKA Jesus Christ has come and we're waiting for the second coming of Jesus. The second coming to Christians will be Revelation in the Bible. It will also be the first coming to Jews, but those comings can't co-exist. Muslims think they're the only righteous people to this earth.

- to restate that - Is it true that a large silent majority of Moslem people do not want to see killing and destruction, but also do not wish to appear "out of step" with the extreme fundamentalists, who might exterminate thier whole family if they show a differing opinion?
I know I need to learn about the Islamic world, but is it true, because that "lock-step" is not unlike typical power-domination principles of other extremist groups - Nazi, fascists, communists, also have a terrifiing domination over the members, not allowing dissent, without risk of being slain.
Is it true in certain Islamic areas?
Thanks!

It was titled: Atheist/Christian.

An Atheist mother moves in with a Christian family for 30 days. I only caught the last 5 minutes of it.

I have the episode ready to be recorded on my Tivo but I wanted to know if it was worth it.
