It is true, a majority, or i can say all, of the muslims around the world are as enraged and devastated by terrorists as much as anyone else...speaking up for islam isn't easy since it isnt your normal religion. islam steps into many, MANY, issues dealing with everyday life, from the way you sleep and treat your neighbor, to the way an Imam(muslim priest head of his community) runs the community. that's why you might hear a muslim say islam isn't just a religion, it's a way of life.
Added to that there are different groups in islam, like you have in christianity. there's the well-known groups of sunniis, shiites, and suks; and other ones like The Nation of Islam.
In certain muslim subgroups it is believe that you must conquer, but the Suniis(I am a Sunni and they are the proper Muslims) believe that he who's neighbor is not safe from his offense will not enter Paradise. And there is solid proof why the Sunniis are proper muslims of Islam. I'm not putting down other groups, so anyone else that's not a Sunni(no insult intended), but it is Haraam(prohibited) to kill innocents no matter what the cause...and the muslim community is ashamed that, whoever, muslim or not, are killing so many innocents.
Islam is much like Christianity, and I mean VERY closely related; the only reason why Islam and Christianity and Islam are different religions is becuase we believe the Holy Ghost was Prophet Muhammad. he came as a Savior for all the worlds...he came as a Mercy for all the worlds.

Grand Sheikh Mohammed Sayed Tantawi of the Al-Azhar mosque of Cairo - which is seen as the highest authority in Sunni Islam - said groups which carried out suicide bombings were the enemies of Islam. Speaking at the conference in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, Sheikh Tantawi said extremist Islamic groups had appropriated Islam and its notion of jihad, or holy struggle, for their own ends.

u r right somwhere along the line. a person who claims innocent lives can never be a muslim in first place.
see most muslims are very ordinary people like each and everyone here. even we hate bloodshed and cussing other beleifs as much as u do.
now u tell me who will be happy when they see so much bloodshed. islam does not preach violence at all as many people claim. people read half of the verses from the quran, cite them here and speak volumes about us.
people should read quran wif an open mind, only then will they understand the essence of it.
and people who have read the quran will feel that it lays the same guidelines as any other holy book on earth. and muslims never differentiate between any of the prophets, be it adam, abraham, jesus, moses or muhammed or any of the 1,24,000 of them (pbut).
for us muhammed is same as that to jesus(pbut). and we also beleive in bible. it is one of the 4 major holy books that a muslim should have beleif in.
the only thing muslims dont agree is 'Jesus(pbuh) is a son of God'. islam and christianity are 2 branches of the same tree namely adam and eve(pbut). but most people dont get this straight.
well y do u wanna differentiate. y dont we 1st come and join ourselves for the common similarities in all religions and live peacefully. then mayb we could find a way to sort out our differences.
its a shameful era in human history, where people hav made so much progress in all feilds yet fight silly like candy eating kids, that too over religion.
may Allah guide us on the right path, bless us and forgive us for our sins.

i think you're fluent in Bahasa Indonesia, Malay, Bengali, Arabic, Urdu and Turkish. i think you have been observing the media in those languages so as which you're familiar with all colorations of opinion between audio gadget of those languages. If Muslim leaders in Djakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Calcutta, Ankara or Cairo spoke against those strikes, could the media on your neck of the woods document it? Do you study the Washington submit, the London , manhattan or l. a. situations or the different respectable newspaper, or do you basically count number on the television information?

Definitely not. All Muslims don't want to see destruction. Besides, how much power do you think that these groups have? It's not like they have intelligence groups to figure out which families are supporting and condemning them. And I actually am living in a Muslim country.

Every religion has it silent majority who are cowed by the vocal extremists. Like the minority extremist Xtian anti-abortionists, bible-thumpers, creationists, 10-commandmenters & homophobes who scare the living daylights out of the Xtian silent majority.

Islam teaches peace. Most Muslims are peaceful. The same as most Christians are peaceful.
It is the extremest that make the news.
Before the current media attention of terrorist who just happen to be Muslim you had people in the news that just happen to be Christian.

of course muslims love peace!! I can never call ppl who demonstrate extremist because they are protecting their religion..talking about extremist, there is a hadith which says "if someone is angry, say good words to the person, then leave the person alone"..that shud be the way..but Muslims now are weak at faith and dont follow Islam truly
