OK my personal beliefs are: i believe in a being that at least had some part in creating life as we know it today. If you choose to call that being God then so be it, then in your words i believe in a God. i do not believe that God is all powerful, nor do i believe that God punishes people here on earth for "sins" man made up. i do NOT believe in the Bible. i think it is a man made evil creation that most people use as a shield to behave as badly as they want in "Gods" name. i do believe in a heaven; but to me heaven is achieving peace within yourself either before or after you die. And i believe in hell - we are living it right now. it's our test to see if we get to achieve our heaven.
So ok to stop my rhetoric and get to the main question. What am i? Agnostic, atheist, religious? i usually tell people i am agnostic; but i am wondering if that is the right term. So just want opinions as to what people would say i am. Don't waste time quoting the bible, i won't read those answers

Humans made paper, and then wrote on it. They didn't muck up some counterfeit radioactive carbon and then infuse it into everything everywhere in infinitely subtle degrees of degradation, roughly corresponding to sedimentary layers, but not excluding special consideration of local tectonic anomalies. Think about it...

I was a Christian for a while but I had major problems with a lot of things in the Bible. So I thought that the problems in the Bible don't mean that Jesus was not God - but I don't believe that the Creator is a man (or a woman) and I don't believe that the Great Spirit would come to earth as a man and have twelve men as apostles as that has been used to reinforce prejudice against women and I know that men and women are equal (even the Bible says men AND women were created in the likeness of God).

If you have stopped being a Christian, what made you change?

It's because as the Sun developed and the earth cooled, the different elements began to go through chemical changes and alter their states to go through a process of evolving into life that could be sustained on the earth. Back then the sun was still not the right temperature for the variety of creatures we have now but it was developing, over time as the sun changed temperatures more life developed and evolved.

No life formed on the moon, mars, because the conditions were not correct for forming life. This isn't a God item, this is a science territory.

So why didn't God create life on the moon or Mars if he's so powerful again?

I have a question for people who believe in God but aren't saved yet. I'm not trying to force anything on you or nothing but I want to know when you say that you will be saved later because you aren't ready yet. How will you know when you are ready? What exactly are you waiting on? Shouldn't you seek the Lord while he is near? When you could you wouln't, now you want to and you can't.......

I have previously asked about eternal punishment, and some of the answers made me think of this:

Christians (some) believe that only belief in Jesus and sincere repentance of sins can keep you from hell. So what if there is a truly devout Christian person who leads a good life, believes in Jesus, confesses and sincerely asks for forgiveness any time they sin (which is rarely); but then commits a pretty serious sin. Let's say they commit adultry in a moment of weakness. And as they drive home, they feel guilty, but don't get a chance to ask for forgiveness before being struck by a car and dying. Are they going to hell? They never had a chance to remove this final blight on their souls before they did, did they?

Or let's change it. Maybe they only commited a minor sin. Maybe they stubbed their toe and then yelled "God**** it!"... then died of a heart attack. They never even had the chance to feel guilty. Are they going to hell? What is the cutoff line for serious sins?

I'm from a small town in Montana, and suddenly I'm here in New York... and I'm not sure I like it! My boss told me today that he was an atheist, which he said means he neither believes in or worships God!!! I thought he seemed nice, but now I'm really confused! What should I do?!

What do you think about evil? Does it exist? If so, do you have a view that evil is simply the absence of good, or is it a force in and of itself? If a force, is it personal (i.e., the devil) or impersonal (some sort of imbalance in the universe)?

PS - I've blogged on yesterday's question on Sin in my 360.
