Or do you see yourself as a caretaker and accountable to a higher power? I myself believe that I am a caretaker and that nothing in this world is mine but only placed in my care. I will one day make an accounting to my Creator and my Savior as to how wisely I have used or treated what was entrusted. What are your feelings?

Peace Be With You,
Debra

This is stated in When Relgion Becomes Evil by Charles Kimall (a Methodist minister and a man who negotiated for the hostages in Iran) Where does this leave us? When we force our views onto others with the implication that we are right we are in fact assaulting them with untruth. Can this (given that it is from a Christian source) be true? How can we change entrenched Dogma so as to allow for tolerance?

I presume that he fell before Adam and Eve as to why he appeared as a serpent to them or as I am told. However where everyone points me to in the bible where he fell it also says, when Satan fell he made the earth desolate and took prisoners.

So if he fell before tempting Eve, which prisoners did he take and was Eden protected from him making the earth desolate?

I take it that he must have fallen and was cast to earth on one of the six days of creation in order to be here to tempt Eve in time.

It's either that they are suicidal and hate being alive on this planet, or that they just want an excuse to see everyone they disagree with suffer.

And come to think of it, just how 'christian' is this idea of the Rapture? All the bad people get punished and all the good people get to laugh at them on their magical elevator ride up to heaven?

Is that the way of Jesus? If it is then I'm staying down here on earth and helping Satan make the strongest army ever. (There is no satan. Just saying.)

Looking around I feel the worst false god is "ME" what I want and never mind anyone else. We have become overly self absorbed and selfish. We have forgotten the commandments of LOVE. What are your opinions? How can we get back to being our brothers keepers? For those of us professing Christianity how can we make ME into HE?

People always ask for current evidence of evolution at work... aren't the new strains that develop of various diseases that are resistant to certain treatments/medication just that evidence?

Agnostic here, not trying to convert anyone

24 Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind”; and it was so.
Genesis 1:24 (New King James Version)

each according to its kind

To suggest that we are not to take this verse literally, why do some Jews and Christians and not others?

Again, what is the standard for what Bible verses are literal and what are not. The criteria for what is to be counted as literal and what not has never been given to me. Why not?

We like to exclude nonbelievers from a right to be happy because we know what love is.
We make you feel guilty for being curious about life.
We condemn you for trying to understand anything you want to know that we havnt told you yet.
But we have a great building to pray in and we have cool stories to tell you.

Since Jesus and Joshua in the bible have the same name in Hebrew, Yeshua, why is it that we call one Joshua and the other Jesus? *Just a footnote, Jesus is not the Greek translation of Yeshua, so if you were going to write that please don't.

I get frustrated once in a while, and wonder what other route atheists should take with theists. (Last Q frustrated me: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/?qid=20060810102125AAyWf6C&r=w)

I guess I'm showing too much respect, trying to speak to them with logic and science. In typing this question, the "similar questions" popped up one of my earlier questions: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/;_ylt=ApmYVIH4XmvWpEsmVtBUhzpIzKIX?qid=20060725112659AABiYk3

Which ought to prove that I am going in circles with these people. I need a new approach. What would work better? Or maybe convincing them is a total dead-end? I've posted "Christians, what would make you change your mind?" and they say "nothing." What then? Is it even important enough?

Going on missions that convert others to believe in christianity when they already have a long standing religious belief. ie: Missions to Africa. Sure, they provide food and medical attention which is greatly needed, but why must they push this religion on people?

To the Christians: What would it take to convince you that the Bible is false -- the superstitious beliefs of a scientifically primitive Bronze Age culture?

To the atheists: what would it take to convince you that the Bible is true -- the divinely inspired Word of the Almighty Creator of the Universe?

How many people here have prayed recently for an answer to prayer. Did you receive that answer to prayer? Even if it wasn't what you liked?
If not, do you only pray when you want something or do you have a daily relationship with God?
(Think about that daily relationship. How would you respond to someone if they only came to you when they wanted something. Would you be willing to help a person who only came to you when they wanted something, or would you be willing to help the person who has a relationship with you?)

In our public schools, we dont mix religion at all! Mainly because there are many religions here that are celebrated. Yet, our government has chosen a single religion for the whole nation?.
Is that right?. The saying in God we Trust was just added in 1957.
