I get frustrated once in a while, and wonder what other route atheists should take with theists. (Last Q frustrated me: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/?qid=20060810102125AAyWf6C&r=w)

I guess I'm showing too much respect, trying to speak to them with logic and science. In typing this question, the "similar questions" popped up one of my earlier questions: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/;_ylt=ApmYVIH4XmvWpEsmVtBUhzpIzKIX?qid=20060725112659AABiYk3

Which ought to prove that I am going in circles with these people. I need a new approach. What would work better? Or maybe convincing them is a total dead-end? I've posted "Christians, what would make you change your mind?" and they say "nothing." What then? Is it even important enough?

Incomplete and inaccurate logic are simply erroneous. The "logic and science" with which you are talking to us are flawed. I can make a logical argument that the world is flat, but that doesn't make me right.

Science has lost its objectivity, basing assumptions on assumptions and calling it fact. Virtually all scientific research is funded by politically active entities with a desired and targeted outcome. This is true with evolution theory, global warming, astronomy, and many other fields.

Frankly, the current scientific community is at a mental state which is quite on par with the witch hunts that followed the world's greatest scientific breakthroughs, to include the discovery of a round earth. You accuse Christians of being closed minded, but they're not the only ones!

So, if we don't trust the science you use to "prove" your point, then you can blame your own scientific community!

You claim to be respectful, but you demand that we agree with your beliefs, which have about as much truly scientific support as ours. That's neither respectful nor courteous.

It's not that important...everyone is going to believe what they want to believe. Why be so worried about it...I think some of it's kind of funny. Too many folks take things too literally, especially when it's what they're reading. You're just going to further frustrate yourself ...live & let live.
Be happy you're more open-minded!

You are really into natural history spouting a few buzz words. I question your credentials in geology. I question your ideas that we should abandon the written word in favor of a science that has as many differing conclusions as men have religions. I am not seeing you to be as educated as you are making out...Jim

In your frenzy to 'convert' us you have left out some vital pieces of information...why, exactly, are you so desperately trying to convert us? What's in it for you? What do you stand to gain? Could it be that you are seeking favor in the eyes of Satan?
