How far does the being like Christ thing go?

What parts do I emulate and not or is it all of it?

Don't worry. Jesus Christ died on a cross so you and I don't have to. You need to read, listen, and make your own decisions. Ok, I know I am going to get flack for this, but not all 'organized religions' are truthful. I am a person who is a Christian, has a home church, believes and knows for a fact that religion is flawed because it is run by a bunch of us flawed human beings! Good luck in your journey. Faith is not a destination but it will take you there.

You emulate all of it except dying on the Cross. Jesus died on the Cross so that we might have eternal life through bedience of his salvation plan and living a sanctified life. We don't have to DIE like Him, only LIVE like him. The word "Christian" means to be Christ-like in our lives.

OMG - Bible bashers are so gullible !
And they obviously don't know how to check previous questions.
Bless them indeed.
Sorry - what was the question ?
Ah - try one of the other letters of the alphabet to be nailed to instead. A X makes you look like you work at an airport.
Try a W instead !
Try turning some water into whiskey as an alternative.
Get 6 fish and feed just 3 people.
Walk on tequila, shave & have a skin head.
You could be the upgraded Jesus Ver 3.1
Dont try the lion thing tho !

To "be like Christ" means to take on the attitude of Christ. In other words what would Jesus do in this situation. Were not supposed to die on a cross just because Jesus did. He did that for us. Being a martyr is diiferent. Dying for what you believe in.

To die on cross or stake like Jesus mearly means to have your old self ( Old Ways of life in sin ) Made over by studing the truth and living the way Jesus did. You will find that by doing this many will hate you as well. Do not be afraid. Jesus conqured and so can we. Keep up the faith dear. May Jehovah truley Bless you with understanding...

Just cause Jesus died on a cross, doesn't mean you're gonna die on a cross too. And don't be a Christian. Be another Christ, if you can. And you're not gonna die, trust me.

The dying on a cross part was covered for you. You should be very grateful for that; I get the impression that the experience sucks pretty bad.

The rest just takes clean living and a little maturity.

God does not expect you to die on a cross! Jesus did that for you, so there wouldn't be anymore human or animal sacrifice for salvation! If you read the word of God, you will be taught what is expected of you by God. A good book that helped me with this question was Rick Warren's "A Purpose Driven Life". If you truly seek the will of God for your life, He will let you know what it is!

To live life as Jesus did......when in doubt ask yourself "what would Jesus do". It doesn't say ANYWHERE in the bible that we must also die on the cross....take up the cross, yes. Die, no.

We don't have to be crucified, of course, but we do have to "die to ourselves" in a metaphorical way, just as Jesus did in a real way.

That is, we must always strive to love God above all things, and to love others as we love ourselves.

Love for the Father and love for humanity drove Jesus to offer Himself in the manner He did.

We too must find our own way of exhibiting this twofold love -- obviously it doesn't have to involve crucifixion, but it does involve putting God and others ahead of ourselves.
