Ok so God in God's infinite wisdom knows everything that is going to happen yes? So why did he set humanity up for failure? If God knew that the serpent would convince Eve to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil why didn't he put up a wall around it? You can say free will all you want but if you are a father and you don't want your kid to eat the cookies would you put the plate of cookies in front of them and say "eat whatever you want but not the cookies?" Any thoughts on this?

Just feel the appreciation and gratitude within your heart, "as if our prayers have already been answered, even if the world appears to show us otherwise." Praying like this is not asking for anything or anyone to change or be changed.

The Master seemed delighted as he started instructing Chester. "In the Bhagavad-Gita, we learn that Krishna created everything and sustains all things by his glory. Chapter 9 teaches that the entire material universe is created, prevaded, maintained and sustained by him. In Chapter 10 we learn that he is the source of everthing and that all existence is because of Lord Krishna. '... I am the seed of all creatures; nothing animate or inanimate could exist without me.'

In John 1 of the Christian New Testament we are taught that 'In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.... And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth .... grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.'

I am really confused with it. Every time I see someone mentioning i the movie Armageddon comes into my mind. Where I am from, we don't really call it Armageddon , and we use other words like Rapture.

Is the Armageddon and Rapture the same thing? Correct me if I am wrong.

In the big plan, do you think He knew about sex and the propergation of the species?
Do you think that there is more to this whole thing than what we have seen so far?
He is a Spirit--we are spirits that live in human bodies.
We die and go to heaven as spirits. UMMMM! What are your thoughts?

Each of us sit in front of our computers answering questions others have posted. Or do we? Isn’t it possible that it is only you yourself that is asking and answering questions? Isn’t it possible that none of this really even exists? How do you know you are not simply a thought experiment by a higher order of being. How do you know you are not a sophisticated algorithm running on some alien computer? Would it not be possible to break down your physical form and thought processes into binary code? How can you prove to others, through this medium, that you truly exist?

Answer: Psalms 110:1 states: "A Psalm concerning David. HaShem says to my master: 'Sit at My right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.'" There is no problem with accepting that one's descendants can rise to a more exalted position than we possess at present. There is no problem with David accepting that the Messiah will be greater than he is. But, there is nothing in this verse to show that David is referring to the Messiah when he writes 'adoni, "my master," "my lord." Moreover, there is nothing in David's words to indicate that the individual he refers to as "my master" is a divine being. David "concerning" himself wrote Psalm 110 poetically in the third person. Christians explain this verse based on New Testament exegesis. The Marcan Jesus says:
How is it that the scribes say that the Christ is the son of David? David himself said by the Holy Spirit; "The Lord [kyrios] said to my Lord [kyrio mou], 'Sit at My right hand, until I put your enemies beneath your feet.' David himself calls him 'Lord,' how is he then his son? (Mark 12:35-37).

Mark's rendering uses the Greek word kyrios, "lord," twice in the sentence, and the Christian translations into English capitalize the initial letter of the word to read "Lord" in both instances. Jesus' discourse is only possible if he and those he spoke to were conversing in Greek. The exegetical problems that Mark's Jesus refers to are only apparent in the Greek rendering and renderings from the Greek into other languages. In the Greek text, the initial kyrios is a reference to "the Lord," that is, God, and translates the Tetragrammaton (Y- H-V-H, the four letter name of God often referred to in Hebrew as HASHEM--THE NAME). The second kyrios, renders 'adoni, "my master," "my lord" (which according to Mark's understanding refers to "the Christ"). That is, the Greek, kyrios, is used to render two separate and distinct Hebrew words in the Greek translation. The confusion it creates in Greek does not exist in the Hebrew original. As a result, the Marcan Jesus' exegesis is non-existent in the Hebrew and incorrect in its understanding of the Greek rendering.

I am not trying to offend anyone with this question. I have read many comments from people saying that since they are Christian and believe in God, they are going to Heaven.

I am a Christian, but I feel I am not perfect and that I am a sinner. I don't do anything crazy against the Bible. I am a pretty passive person who tries not to do harm to anyone, but I still feel that I sin and that there are certain things I do that can anger God.

So I feel in between from Heaven and Hell, I don't feel I have the ticket to go straight to Heaven and that God in the end is going to determine where I am going. I also have learned that he keeps record of all the sins we have done in a "book", to then interrogate us up there. LOL I don't know where I learned that.

I feel we aren't perfect and that we aren't better than anyone and that God judges all of the same, including non-believers.

What is your opinion?

Since Christ died on the cross for the sins of the world.
Hebrews 10:11-14
"Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But when this Priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, He sat down at the right hand of God. Since that time He waits for His enemies to be made His footstool, because by one sacrifice He has made perfect forever those who are "the holy ones."

Hebrews 10:17-18
"Then He adds: "Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more." And where these have been forgiven, there is no longer any sacrifice for sin."

I know it was Christ that jave us the lords prayer but that was before he died and fogave us all
why don't we give thanks for the forgiveness we alreaddy have instead of asking for it again

I ran across this answer while playing "six degrees of seperation" with my questions:
"Well what do you use the Bible for on your train rides to work everyday? Why have a Bible if you don't believe anything it says? If I were an atheist, I wouldn't even waste my time reading it."
I'm agnostic(sometimes leaning toward atheist on a really bad day:), but I still think the Bible has merit as a great literary work, and I acknowedge its HUGE influence on history and culture.
I'm even planning on taking a few religion classes at my college. I don't know if they'll change my mind about anything, but don't you think it'd would be a good idea for everyone to read at least one holy book/sacred manuscript from another religion?
(I'm planning on taking Sanskrit and Akkadian in my junior and senior years, too :)

The UN has passed hundreds of resolutions against Isreal, and the US has vetoed many many of them.

Why does the US support them if that part of the world wants them gone so badly?

Please don't say because they're the only democracy in the region, because the US has supported dictatorships and even Osama Bin Laden when it suited the needs of the US. So what is the US getting from giving Isreal over $6Billion dollars in aid every year?

it can be argued that many of the problems we face can be traced to an over-reliance on religious moral systems which seriously suffer many flaws. Obedience to authority and dependence on ancient texts are a poor starting point for dealing with complicated modern issues. Far from having too much godless morality in the world, could we benefit from a bit more secular reasoning about the moral issues facing us and a bit less worrying about what gods or scriptures have to say?
