Isn't homosexuality a sin in Christianity?

Or doesn't the newer version of the Bible say so?

For a long time, Christianity has called homosexuality a sin... this was due to distortions and human made interpetations of the bible that discouraged it so that (it was hoped) gay men and lesbian women would participate in heterosexual reproduction due to the large numbers of wars.
There is not a "newer" version of the Bible, merely a further interpeted version (sadly enough, the interpetations are getting further and further from the original texts).
Homosexuality is NOT a sin, and was never condemned by Jesus. Jesus preached LOVE and ACCEPTANCE of differences, and of people. Jesus did not teach discrimination, or judgement. Jesus DID declare that the only One with the right to pass judgement was His Father (God).

Hope this answers your question adequately.
Aloha,
David

The bible actually says nothing about homosexuality but does talk about physical acts in specific circumstances.

Even if your presumption is true that homosexuality is a sin, all Christians are sinners, priests and pastors included and all sin is equal offensive to God. Therefore what sin a person has commited does not disqualify them as priest.

The title primarily describes Catholic and Orthodox male pastors. All Catholic priest are celibate so they are no longer practicing offensive behavior and are forgiven by God. God commands you to be forgiving.

Why aren't you?

Homosexuality is NOT a sin, period, in any of the versions of the Bible. If that's what it has been written or preached as, then it is a gross misinterpretation and a veritable shame. There is positively nothing wrong with being gay, being a priest, or being a gay priest.

Some people not comfortable with their sexuality will go into priesthood as a way to suppress their lust-full desires.

Gay priests are not a problem, the problem is pedophile priests.

There are a lot of child molesters who are priests and they have been allowed by the Church to continue as priests or are still being supported by the Church.

Abusing priests have been allowed to continue their abuse, and have been financially supported by the church in their legal fees.

Those who do not go to prison are allowed to retire at the Churchs expense. After the suits have been settled some of these same priests have gone to Europe for retirement and the churche foots the bill.

Anytime you force someone into an unnatural lifestyle, it has to come out somehow. The Catholic church demands that their priests remain celebate. The sexual urge is very strong. So, because the priests have no other outlet, they quite often practice homosexuality with other priests, or with the boys that they associate with. If you look at the middle ages, when the Catholic church was all powerful, there were more births among nuns than among the entire lay population. Nuns had more time, were better fed and were probably better sexually than the stunted serf women.

It is a sin and priests who are gay are being hypocrites. Their calling is to preach the word of God. How can they preach saying that homosexuality is a sin and yet be homosexual themselves? God created Adam and Eve and wanted man and woman to be together. Anything different than that is against God.

Both the Old and New Testaments in the Bible tell that God finds homosexuality an abomination. If one has truly accepted Christ as their personal Savior they cannot believe it is OK to live a homosexual lifestyle.

Every accurately translated version of the Bible says so.

Romans 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

No council or synod can change that.

There were a few that slipped by, hence the problem. The Church is far more careful, at least the Catholic Church is and that is whom I presume you are speaking of.But as for homosexuality the problem is not in the desires themselves but acting on the desires. The same as you or I have temptations.

AMAZING STORIES ABOUT THE CHURCH!

(1)

A lawsuit charging a former Stockton priest with molesting two girls while visiting their home has been scheduled for trial next month in San Joaquin County Superior Court.

The suit against the Rev. Francis Arakal and the Diocese of Stockton accuses the priest of fondling two girls in 2001. It also charges another priest and the church with reacting inappropriately when one of the girls attempted to report the molestation.

Judge Sherry Stephens of Maricopa County Superior Court also ordered the Rev. Karl LeClaire to serve three years probation and register as a sex offender as punishment for pleading guilty to committing a sexually motivated aggravated assault against a teenage parishioner in 1996.

LeClaire admitted to giving the teenager, now a 23-year-old Navy recruit, a sensual massage. One year was the longest Stephens could sentence LeClaire under an Oct. 28 plea agreement.

"I’m disappointed," said Anthony Chacon, 24, who said he has known LeClaire and the victim for years. "There was a lot that wasn’t recognized."

A minister who police say confessed to inappropriately touching young boys has been indicted by a grand jury.

Dr. Claude Stephen Harmon was the pastor of the Maineville Baptist Church for fifteen years. He was removed when the allegations surfaced.

On Monday Dr. Harmon was indicted on one count of rape and nine counts of gross sexual imposition.

The indictment claims Dr. Harmon had sexual contact with a child less than thirteen years old on nine separate occasions. It also claims he engaged in sexual conduct with a child less than thirteen years old on at least one occasion.

Police say Dr. Harmon once confessed to touching boys over a twelve-year period.
