one evening, totally out of the blue, i had a "religious" experience. later i read a book that described my experience to a tee(T, ti, tea, pick the correct usage - i'm not sure). it turns out that this experience was written about by people of MANY different traditions, so i came to the belief that God is for ALL and no bible thumper on the planet earth will ever change my beliefs

My upbringing didn't give me much hope, let alone faith, but my testimony to god would be thanking him big time for believing in me and having faith in me.

Standing in front of a judge once and hearing charges , being told about the lengthy prison terrms and being told by countless people the odds were against me. Everyone turned against me. I cried out to God (as in the God of Abraham Issac and Jacob) as in the Father of Jesus Christ, and now I sit here writing this a FREE MAN! ENOUGH SAID.

My upbringing didnt give me any faith... my personal life experiences did. Testimonies get trashed here so I wont post it... but trust me it wasn't my upbringing.

Our "testimony" should be base on what the Bible has to say concerning our knowing the True God, Jehovah and his Son, Jesus Christ. For Jesus himself said: "This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ."-John 17:3
It is not about giving a testimony that gives faith in God, rather it is Is true faith in Jesus Christ being demonstrated? This involves appreciation of the value of the sacrifice of Jesus’ human life and of his position today as heavenly King. (John 3:36; Ps. 2:6-8) Such appreciation is shown by obeying Jesus—sharing personally and zealously in the work that he assigned to his followers. True religion has such faith that is accompanied by works.—Jas. 2:26.
God strongly disapproves of religion that is merely a formalism. (Isa. 1:15-17) True religion upholds the Bible’s standard of morality and clean speech instead of weakly going along with popular trends. (1 Cor. 5:9-13; Eph. 5:3-5) Its members reflect the fruits of God’s spirit in their lives. (Gal. 5:22, 23) So, those who adhere to true worship can be identified because they sincerely endeavor to apply Bible standards in their lives not only at their places of meeting but in their family life, at their secular work, in school, and in recreation.

I don't believe, and I think the majority of church-goers go because they want the community to be something rather than where it seems to be going, and they get involved and take some of it seriously that way.
