Since Christ died on the cross for the sins of the world.
Hebrews 10:11-14
"Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But when this Priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, He sat down at the right hand of God. Since that time He waits for His enemies to be made His footstool, because by one sacrifice He has made perfect forever those who are "the holy ones."

Hebrews 10:17-18
"Then He adds: "Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more." And where these have been forgiven, there is no longer any sacrifice for sin."

I know it was Christ that jave us the lords prayer but that was before he died and fogave us all
why don't we give thanks for the forgiveness we alreaddy have instead of asking for it again

I hope you don't take this the wrong way. I can somewhat understand what you are saying, but did you ever stop to think, it is impossible to get through one day without sinning by thought or deed. That is why we must ask forgiveness and repent of the sin. God knows what we have done, but we must confess it with our mouth. That is the reason for daily prayer, and sometimes we commit sins without even realizing it. Therefore, I ask forgiveness everynight before I go to sleep. I would not want to die in the night with one unconfessed, unforgiven sin upon my soul. God Bless. And too, a prayer of thankfullness once in awhile never hurts.

Believing that Jesus died on the cross to save your soul is a crutch.
Christians use this so that they can do what ever they want and it doesn't matter because they believe in Jesus Christ as thier savior and therefor will be the only ones saved from eternal fire.....BULL.

Don't get me wrong, I love Jesus Christ he is one of the five most influential and best of all the prophets....I am sorry to tell you that is all he is...Not god not the son of God, he was a prophet.....He is no more a god than Prophet Adam.....who was born without a father and mother.....

It is the least we can do, Don't you think? The Son of Man dies at Calvery to wash our sins away and all we have to do is ask him to forgive us of our filthy sins, and to come into our heart. That is not a big thing that he asks us to do, but people think that it would kill them to admit to our creator that we are sinners.
As for thoses who think Gods a phony, I will say this, it comes from the Bible. " Every knee will bow and every mouth will confess before the Lord."

You asked a good question.

Once saved you need not ask for sins already forgiven of.

But once saved you must live holy.

This is not always an easy task

BUT

God gives us grace to go through whatever is needed.

AND,

if it is too hard for us to bear, that is that temptation, then He makes a way of escape for us so we do not sin.

Does this help you?

While we are forgiven completely of all of our sins when we came to Christ, the relationship is broken when we sin. To restore that relationship requires the asking of forgiveness.

For example: If a husband says something mean to his wife, their relationship will suffer, especially in her eyes, because he demeaned her. Until he makes it right, their communion, their fellowship, is broken. They may be married (as Jesus calls His church the "Bride.") but it can only be completely restored through confession on his part, and forgiveness on hers.

Further, we are told to seek forgiveness. "If we make it our habit to confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us those sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (I John 1:9)

IF we confess our sins (to God, not to a priest), He is willing to forgive us - 1 John 1:19 - this was written to believers.
The context you speak of refers to all of our part sins, before we were saved.

people lack Repentants, the person should turn from sin not embrace it. Hebrews 10:26-31

Although He died for us, we still sin and therfore still need forgiveness. I see where you're going with it...but being Christian doesn't make us perfect. But yes we should be grateful for what He's done for us.
God bless

we where all born into sin. we sometimes sin without even knowing we did something wrong. we should always ask Jehovah God for forgiveness. even if we think we did nothing wrong, we still should ask for forgiveness
