Atheists seem to be a target here. There was a time - in polite society - when one's political and religious affiliations were private. I was raised in that environment and still feel that way. No matter how "right" or "true" you think your religion is, that does not entitle you to attempt to convert me. My beliefs are my private business.

The level of intolerance in America seems to have grown exponentially in recent years. Ironic, when you consider that the country was founded by a group fleeing religious persecution. Please, believe whatever you like...but grant me the same courtesy.

I've been taught that God has a plan for each of us. Then what is the use of prayer? Why should I pray for someone when God has chosen what is going to happen to them anyway? Why should I ask God to change his plans?

My grandfather wasn't a very good man with his spouse and sons years ago. He was an alcoholic and very violent person. He had a very bad reputation in his neighborhood. He would disappear for days and when he returned to his home he came drunk and mistreated my grandmother doing her terrible things, and also my uncles and aunts. He was so bad that he cut the head of a dog with a machete simply because he got annoyed at his barking. He was never there for my family, not even for the birth of my 8 uncles and aunts.

In the 90's he converted to Christianity and his life changed. He was a more passive, calm and less aggressive. He then got sick and couldn't go to church anymore. Recently he died, the nurses did us the favor to help him rest in peace accepting God as his savior, and thats how he died.

Have you ever heard of non-believers who all their lives didn't believe in God but at the last minutes of their life, they though about God and accepted him as his savior?

It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife. 9 I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators: 10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world. 11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolator, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. 12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? 13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

God can not sin because he doesn't exist. If one doesn't exist one can not act on the universe. If one can not act on the universe one can not cause an effect. If sin is defined as acting in a way that is morally incorrect, and morals have their basis in causality, then one who cannot create a causal situation can not act immorally. Therefore God cannot sin.

Your thoughts?

I have a few questions for those out there who seem to find themselves too intelligent to believe in God.

1. Stephen Hawking will tell you that out of all the infinite possible ways the atom could be made up, it was made up just perfectly to sustain life and matter as we know it. Amazing coincidence?

2. The earth is constructed and positioned in our solar system just perfectly to sustain life. Any closer to the sun and you wouldn't be here, same goes for any slight difference in oxygen levels and other gases that exist in our atmosphere. In all the earth's infinite possible constructs, everything is just perfect enough that you are able to exist. Another mindblowing coincidence?

I could go on and on with these but my point is simple. Atheists see the idea of spirituality and God to be silly and illogical. So if you do not believe in God, you believe you are one in infinite, a virtually impossible circumstance. This is what I see as silly and illogical.

First, let me say I'm not an atheist and, no, I'm not picking on any particular faith or denomination here.

Now...Christians of all denominations believe that their religion--their faith--is *the* proper (for lack of a better word)one; it's the only one that matters. All the rest are wrong in their interpretations of the bible and will not be allowed into the kingdom of Heaven. Ok...so say you die and find out that your religion ISN'T the "proper" one...that God is banishing to hell all those who followed/worshipped under the denomination with which you have belonged? Say that you discover that God is only taking persons of the faith(s)/denominations you have judged as being wrong or cultish?

My point here is this...shouldn't Christians of *all* faiths be a little less judgmental of those who do not believe as you do? Shouldn't you be a little more tolerant rather than spend so much time preaching and judging other people who believe or worship differently than you?

For the sake of argument, let's assume this occurred.

Since God can take on any image he wants (burning bush, tower of smoke, etc) Why would God assume an image identical to man?

No need for arms or legs.
No need for eyes, ears, or head.
No need for internal structures.
No need for bone, muscle, etc.
No need for DNA or penis, no need for facial hair like a beard (ergo, how do you determine God is a "he")

If you subscribe to creationist beliefs, you believe God created more single-celled organisms that multi-celled organisms, and that the vast majority of multi-celled organisms look nothing like humans. Why claim God created man in his image when he spent so much time making life forms that look nothing like us?

Really, what practical sense does it make for God to assume a human form?

Why did they send this to there members a monthly news letter called the "Kingdom Ministry" in Oct 1999. They sent out to its members world wide around 10 million copies of the news letter totally discouraging anyone to use the internet due to the exposure it is getting and trying to put a stop to its members looking at it. It says in summery: "Time spent in personal and family bible study (Which means reading their publications) Meeting attendance (5 per week) and field ministry (Door to door recruiting) far outweighs time spent browsing the Internet, expecting to gain benefits. So are they banned or not?

Okay, I'm a non believer. But this is a serious question. Is it to love thy neighbor? Is it "worship me and go to heaven"? Is it the Golden Rule? Can it be condensed into a simple idea or is it too elaborate and only conveyed through the entire text of the Bible, Koran, or Torah?

I'm being serious, so please don't waste my time or yours with stupid answers.

Thanks!

So I just stated that evolution is no less likely than any other theory like creationism and has just as much proof if not more, and that it could be anything because no one was there for these events so don't bash anyone's theory when yours has just as many or more holes. I even added that evolution is imperfect and has holes too but everyone said I needed to keep an open mind like I was pushing people around. And of course the Bible quotes.

But since everyone wants to make it an offensive for some reason let me point some things out. There is no archaelogical proof to support ideas in the Bible. You have ark artifacts? That's cool, at some point in time somebody built a boat, and there might have been a flood too, maybe it really was Noah, how does that prove God flooded the Earth? Because somebody had a boat. You found cities nobody thought was there? So what? That just proves the people who wrote the Bible were there, not that God created the Earth. Read details.

The problem that some of us Christians have with evolution is that some take the bible way too literally. You hear them say “because it’s not biblical”, as though the bible is the book of “everything”. Well guess what, the bible doesn’t mention the North American Continent, or manned flight, or microwave ovens (and everyone has to admit that cooking with microwave radiation is pretty cool!). Anyway, people back then were pretty simple, and it would have been useless to explain the big bang theory to them. So, they told simple stories, parables if you will. Evolution should not take away from your beliefs. Maybe it is time to put away the “fuzzy bunny slippers of religion” and put on a pair of “Sharper Image genuine leather slippers of religion”. The place for religion is now, not 6,000-10,000 years ago. So, am I right, or am I completely out of my mind????

God Bless...and my the Force be with you...and hellfire and brimstone.

What makes us any different than that dog that's rotting on the side of the road,or all those little bugs that we step on every single day.. We live and die like everything else,we just have ceramonial buriels. And if all these creatures do go to heaven, just think of how many things will be there....if it even exists.....
