My grandfather wasn't a very good man with his spouse and sons years ago. He was an alcoholic and very violent person. He had a very bad reputation in his neighborhood. He would disappear for days and when he returned to his home he came drunk and mistreated my grandmother doing her terrible things, and also my uncles and aunts. He was so bad that he cut the head of a dog with a machete simply because he got annoyed at his barking. He was never there for my family, not even for the birth of my 8 uncles and aunts.

In the 90's he converted to Christianity and his life changed. He was a more passive, calm and less aggressive. He then got sick and couldn't go to church anymore. Recently he died, the nurses did us the favor to help him rest in peace accepting God as his savior, and thats how he died.

Have you ever heard of non-believers who all their lives didn't believe in God but at the last minutes of their life, they though about God and accepted him as his savior?

Marty , that's almost exactly what happened to my grandfather. He was suffering in pain and the best thing for him was to die in peace but he couldn't, something didn't let him do it, and we though that he was that way because he felt terrible for all the bad things he did in the past, and the nurses prayed for him and helped him die in peace and he did.

When he converted to Christianity he wasn't "senile" like you say. Even before that he threaten to hit me also. He had enough strength to do harm still. When he converted to Christ he could have done the same things if he wasn't a believer. My grandfather has been a strong man all of his life.

Yes. Last year I had a patient who had terminal cancer who came to the center where I work. His doctors had not given him hope. He had resisted the pleas of his wife and daughter to surrender, but refused. After being here a couple of months, and observing the christian staff, he began to study the Bible. He Finally accepted Jesus, and died a week later; he knew that he was going to die, but was at peace. I've seen a lot of people struggle and fight to stay alive, but not those who know Jesus.

No, I've in fact seen the opposite. In WWII there have been several reports of Australian soliders and priests giving up their believe in god after witnessing such atrocities. And as sure as I am that I will never vote right wing, I will also never convert to god in my dying hour.

The nice thing about God being God, is that we really are limited in our understanding of what a persons relationship with God is, as well as not knowing his or her motivation for their actions. Only God can know this, and while it may seem horribly unjust to us, we can not fully know the justice of God... and there is the matter of Grace.... big G not little g Grace...

No i never met anyone who done it at the moment of death but one of my best friend dad's brother was having a heart attack and he asked his brother to please pray for him to God and ask God to forgive him. His brother looked at him and said i don't know how to pray, Neither did the man who was dying. He did die, my friend learned a lesson that day and it changed her life forever.Taken a chance that you got that last minute to ask for forgiveness may not come. This is a true story......... God Bless

Yes, my Grandmother was a unbeliever until a couple of weeks before her untimely death. She was a very unpleasant person to be around. She hated my mother but she apologized to her before she died and asked for forgiveness. She was baptized and confessed Jesus as her Lord.

Shalom

yes i have and it is very possible. the point is did he know of jesus during his life ,was he told about him?you see once you have heard and been told about jesus it is your responsibility to accpt him or not. for this reason the word of god will be preached to everyone. so at the last moment you cant say i didnt know. this is why t.v ministries are going all over the world,to let people hear and see the word of the lord.the lord is being preached all over the world.

I've never known anyone who suddenly developed religion towards the end of their lives.

And, I'll bet I've seen a lot more old people go to their graves than most people posting on Yahoo!Answers.

I haven't personally witnessed it but I know it happens and have heard from people who have experienced it. It's never too late for a person to accept the truth ;)

My dad was in the Vietnam war and he said that he saw alot of self-proclaimed atheists ask God to save them at the last moment of dying. So I have not seen it, but have heard of it. There is only one way to turn- turn to God!!!
