It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife. 9 I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators: 10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world. 11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolator, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. 12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? 13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

If a believer sees another believer sinning, it is their Christian duty to lovingly and respectfully confront the person with their sin (Matthew 18:15-17). This is not judging, but rather pointing out the truth in hope of bringing repentance in the other person (James 5:20). We are to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15). We are to proclaim what God's Word says about sin. 2 Timothy 4:2 instructs us, "Preach the Word ; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage — with great patience and careful instruction." We are to "judge" sin, but always with the goal of presenting the solution for sin and its consequences - the Lord Jesus Christ (John 14:6).

I think this is a warning. "Birds of a feather flock together". Since we are influenced by those we hang around. He's illustrating what will happen. Just the truth. I don't think he means kick them out of a physical church or anything. Just don't invite to your home or make company with them. We're all wicked in some way. I think the more wicked we are, the more we need the Lord.We also need the full body armor spoken of in Romans.

Well first you need to include the whole thing or say that you are only including part. Paul is saying that people of the church should not do immoral things not only with those outside the Church but inside as well. I think it's more to do with family, but... The way a lot of people react in a modern church when something like that is uncovered they are likely to leave on there own.

Jehovah's Witnesses absolutely believe in keeping the congregation clean of unrepentant wicked persons, just as admonished by the scripture you cited.

This is where the Baptist got their reputation. Many still do this if the person will not repent. Actually if more churches did that -we would all be better off.
Unfortunately many denominations ordain these kinds to leadership roles.

Yes? So what?
Paul tells the church in Corinth very plainly 'I told you and told you not to hang out with these people and you didn't listen to me. And not just the sexual fornication stuff, but just really rotten people. but you didn't listen and now these people are sitting in places of judgement. These people are without God and they are sitting in judgement over you. Get rid of them.'
Seems fairly simple to me, and right too.

i'm sure there are churches who still do it..why? its what the bible says anyway... still, isn't it more better if churches are able to bring wicked souls to the Lord than to drive them away from Him? i believe that as long as a wicked person has the intention of switching to the good side truthfully, he's welcome to the church...

Yes some do but many not only don't practice discipline but don't preach on sin either.

So don't judge...but do judge?
A bit hypocritical.
