As yet we do not know exactly what life is. Nobody fully understands what occurred to turn those strings of protein into self-replicating DNA. It may be that what we call "life" is but one twig on one branch of some vast un-knowable tree of chemical complexity. As far as purpose goes? Who knows? Personally I do not believe that the universe was created deliberately with humanity as any sort of long term goal. Ifyou study the history of the universe, and earth in particular, it becomes more and more apparent (to me anyway) that humanitys existance is but a happy accident. If there is a masterplan, it's extremely subtle.

No, definitely not. The earth is definitely not the only planet that has life on it. We are conditioned to think of life in terms of life on this planet since that's all we know, but this doesn't mean there cannot be other types of bodies with varying proportions of the 5 gross elements -- earth, water, fire, air, and ether.
The Vedas discuss many of the inhabitants of both higher and lower planets. And in addition there are specific processes for achieving life in higher planets among the demigods who enjoy a very long duration of life with a very advanced standard of enjoyment compared to our planet.
Yes, the space of the universe is not wasted. Its all a home for someone. Even without any belief in the Supreme, we can look at nature on this planet and see that there is life everywhere -- in every nook and cranny.
And in the Bhagavad-gita it is specifically mentioned that there are spirit souls, jivatmas, everywhere in this material world. "This individual soul is unbreakable and insoluble, and can be neither burned nor dried. He is everlasting, all-pervading, unchangeable, immovable and eternally the same." This means that there is life everywhere in this material world, which is composed of many thousands of universes, not just this one.

We have yet to prove or disprove life on other planets.
However, I find it hard to believe we're the only planet with life. All this space, that seems endless, and we're the only ones? No, I refuse to believe that until proven otherwise.

I don't really know why God makes all this, but I know for sure that the earth is the only plant that has life.

Human mind's designed not to know these things i.e we're not clever enough to know all this, to make it easier - you can't fit that information in your mind/brain to understand it, not in this world anyway. however when u die everything u've been seeking the answer for, all u ever wanted to know during ur lifetime and all the mysteries will be revealed, all ur questions will be answered.
note - this is not a suggestion to kill urself, suicide is like killing another human being and therefore god will punish those who commit suicide
can u add detail to this answer and tell me what u think about the answer. thanks

I believe there is life on other planets. It may not be life as we know it (i.e. humanoid), but life that evolved to be able to sustain itself in varying conditions.
