My father once mentioned a theory that the Earth was in fact "renewed" or "replenished" as it is told in Genesis 1:1, siting that the original Hebrew word that was translated "created" actually meant "renewed" in the original text. It also states that the spirit of God moved across the face of waters and the earth was without form and void. Was the earth a watery void before God renewed it in Genesis 1:1? That would seem to explain certain things, like why we can see starlight that has traveled more than 6000 lightyears. (If the universe is only about 6000 years old, then we shouldn't be able to see stars that are any further away than that.)

My belief is that you have to go through hell to get to heaven. If we are not in hell, does it say in any religious texts that reproduction will stop during the apocolypse?

Just was dumped by a mormon after a long relationship. He never answered my questions about the Church directly, and brushed aside any concerns of mine. I was just curious of reports one sometimes sees about the LDS are true, and also why they are so very exclusive of non members. I was ecxluded many times because I was not a member. Thank you.

A boy grows up hating his father, but loving his mother dearly. He dedicates his life to being different than his father as the man embodied everything that the boy despised. One day his mother dies, and standing over her grave he is shocked at his inability to greive for her. Some years pass, and his father dies. As he stands over his fathers grave he can not contain his grief, he is a weeping mess. What do you take away from this?

She says I am crazy for not being "saved". I think she is the crazy one because she calls a cracker "Jesus Christ" and then eats it. And she thinks dunking your body under water erases your sins. Who do you think is crazy?

(and please, no perverse answers)

"...‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’..." (Mark 12:31)

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’
But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you" (Matthew 5:33-34)

If you believe that you're going to heaven to be with God in a greater place, then what is so damn special about earth? If you know that you or someone else is going to heaven, then doesn't life on earth fail to compare to HEAVEN?

I think atheists value life more because they believe this is our one chance. Christians believe there is a better place...

doesn't make sense to me....I guess thats why there is that suicide clause in there. Because once you figure out that heaven is better, you must want to go there right away. But God says you have to wait it out until he says so.....

If humanity really started from Adam and Eve and their two son’s, how did it go on? If that’s the case humanity went on reproducing through incest for a loooong time before existing people started becoming distant relatives to be ok for them to get it on.
What do you think?

When I see the late night infomercials about mere $10/month saving a child in Africa from starvation or $12/month keeping a girl out of prostitution in 3rd world countries or couple of dollars a month keeping helpless animals sheltered and fed, I wonder if God would find it acceptable if I gave money to those non profit organization rather than to my church. Knowledgeable Christians please help me. Thank you.

This just came to my attention recently that many Christians in this country believe that they are being persecuted. How? By Whom? And what is your solution?

If you kill a person it is said that you still have a chance to go to heaven if you repent for it. If you kill your own self then you are doomed for eternity. So someone might go around and kill half the world’s population and god would find it in his heart to forgive them if they changed their mind afterwards, but if you kill your own self he will make you pay.
Does anyone else find this a bit ODD?!

God the Son (Jesus) founded His one Church... the Catholic Church. Jesus said: "upon this rock I will build MY Church"

Jesus is the Head of His Church but He had to leave, so He left Peter in charge. Peter was given the authority by Jesus to be the head of His Church until Jesus returns.

"I (Jesus) will give you (Peter) the keys to the kingdom of heaven"

With that Peter became the first Pope. That authority (the keys) has been handed down from Pope to Pope down to the current Pope.

So who started your Church and when???

Some places to find the answer:

http://www.ewtn.com/faith/teachings/churb4.htm
http://members.cox.net/getthewholetruth/start.htm
http://www.ourcatholicfaith.org/thechurch.html

May God Bless all of you who try to answer the question.

And to the people who will not answer the question, but will only spew their hatred and lies about the Catholic Church....

To you I say, May God truly Bless you. (Matthew 5:44)

He said the New Jerusalem and temple would be built in western Missouri (at that time). It would be the place Christ returned to at His Second Coming? (Doctrine & Covenants, 97:19 (August 1833) and 101:17-21 (December,1833). In 1843, Smith also prophecied in the name of the Lord God: that the Son of Man will not come in the heavens until I am 85 years old, 48 years hence or about 1890. Smith, however, was dead within a year, and Christ still has not returned. (Joseph Smith History; 5:336).

Who agrees with me Joseph Smith of Mormons is a false prophet?

If God knows who will go to heaven and who to hell in advance, why doesn’t he do all the wicked people a favour and never create them to begin with? Some may say “because you have free will and God respects it …” or something like that. But before god creates anyone, there is nobody there for him to respect his free will. What’s the point of creating people who will end up suffering for eternity? And no “God works in mysterious ways” answers please…
