This just came to my attention recently that many Christians in this country believe that they are being persecuted. How? By Whom? And what is your solution?

I don't know where you heard that, but I am a christian, and my christian friends and I all thank God every day that we are not under persecution! So far, we are still a free nation and we can believe what we want. The only place I know that we are persecuted is in this forum, and there is no solution for that because this is a free country! You can't hurt me. But I do feel a burden for you, and I will pray for all the persecuters.
God bless you!!!

Check out the first three centuries or so that Christianity existed, especially under the reigns of Nero (first century) and Diocletian (early fourth century) (and a few notable others in between), up until the Edict of Milan (under Constantine - 313 AD).

Then get back to me, once the term is understood in that context.

It's estimated that upwards to 75%-80% of the U.S. IS Christian, or at least claims to be. How can a minority (non-Christians) have that must power over a majority (Christians)?

And last time I checked, every President? Christian (unless some want to exclude the one Catholic - Kennedy (but I don't))
(John Stewart did a great skit on this very topic - wish I could find it.)

Need I go on?

But I have noticed that some Christians seem to have a persecution complex and often make claims of being "attacked." EDIT: oh, and an "us versus them" metality. Just my observation, and I am not generalizing, and I certainly could be wrong.

First thing, Emily? How do you know that your religion is the correct one? We don't like it when your morals go against our morals, but every person has their own different set of views. The only standards of morality stems from humans being a social species.

Moving on,
They just feel that way because Liberals attack their very beliefs. If the Christians really want to know what being persecuted feels like, go to Darfur where they'll kill you. That's persecution.

Besides, the bill of rights is a burden set by the government on itself in order to prevent persecution of any standards.

Being persecuted by Atheists on Yahoo answers...

solution... ban Atheists from asking questions and making answers in the religious section since they claim to not be religious.

I think many "fundamental" Christians think that anyone who disagrees with them is going to "persecute" them. Probably the same way Jesus was persecuted. My solution? Heck, I just ignore them. They usually go away.

I can't see how Christians in this country can possibly be persecuted, seeing as how they're in the majority and are merrily persecuting others themselves.

Most people (Christians and otherwise) in America have no idea what persecution is. They just like to pretend they are to gain pity with others.

Of course they're persecuted. It's hard to find a christian willing to open speak about their faith.
I only hope that some day, maybe just someday, we will be able to have an OPENLY christian president.

/sarcasm off.

Our beliefs are coming under attack by liberalism and "progressive thought". When people become stuffed up with the little knowledge they have, they think that Christianity is useless and so they ridicule us for believing in a "fairy tale".

At the day of judgement, it will be a bad thing for those people. They laugh and sing out their own debauchery, little thinking about God or anything religious, and they hate anyone who upsets their little world.

That's why they hate us. We have the message of life, but they don't want to hear it.
