God the Son (Jesus) founded His one Church... the Catholic Church. Jesus said: "upon this rock I will build MY Church"

Jesus is the Head of His Church but He had to leave, so He left Peter in charge. Peter was given the authority by Jesus to be the head of His Church until Jesus returns.

"I (Jesus) will give you (Peter) the keys to the kingdom of heaven"

With that Peter became the first Pope. That authority (the keys) has been handed down from Pope to Pope down to the current Pope.

So who started your Church and when???

May God Bless all of you who try to answer the question.

And to the people who will not answer the question, but will only spew their hatred and lies about the Catholic Church....

To you I say, May God truly Bless you. (Matthew 5:44)

To the person who wrote:
"I am Evengelical Lutheran. Jesus founded my church and he holy trinity is the head of it."

Sorry, but the Lutheran church is a derivative of the Catholic Church. That is, it is a Catholic Church with some pieces missing.

Martin Luther was Catholic priest who left the Catholic Church and started his own church.... the Lutheran church.

It never ceases to amaze me how people who claim to believe only what the plain text of the bible says, manage to come up with so many unbiblical and totally original innovations!

Please ... anyone ... post the verse of scripture that specifically designates the bible as the only faith authority!

Post the verse in the Old Testament that provides written authorization for someone to write the New Testament.

Post the verse that shows where God gave written instructions for the 15th century reformers to break away from the true church and start their own new faith traditions.

Unless someone manages to come up with all these verses, one must conclude that all of the above are simply unbiblical traditions of men!

Unfortunately the Catholic Church has a translation problem with the head of their church. Jesus says, "On THIS Rock I Build My Church. " Christ is the rock, the big rock. He is the head of the Church. He says Peter(Petros) you are the small rock or pebble. The Church of God is not Peter the head of. Also peter had a mother in law, which means he was married. Theres goes the celebricy. Read Romans 9:5 GOD bought the CHURCH with his OWN blood!

Who cares what church I go to and who built it. Maybe church is held outside at the park down the street from where I live, maybe it's held in the hospital next to the gift shop or maybe its even located next to that seedy night club where people get arrested sometimes. Your question doesn't really make any sense. I am Evengelical Lutheran. Jesus founded my church and he holy trinity is the head of it. So there.

Sorry to kinda butt in, but you said something that is not ENTIRELY true: You said, "God the Son (Jesus) founded His one Church... the Catholic Church."

This is not true... Jesus founded the "One" Church. That's it... there was no Catholic/non-Catholic church during that time.

There was a split in the "One" Church, that is where the Catholics and the Orthodox split... this split is known as the Great Schizm.

Anyways, I'm Coptic Orthodox... founder was Jesus Christ, through Saint Mark the Apostle and Evangelist [before the Great Schizm, of course].

As for the claims of the Roman Catholic Church that its history can be traced back to Jesus Christ, Peter, or any of the other apostles, such claims lack both historical and Scriptural support. The true Church of Jesus Christ was not founded upon Peter, but upon Peter's confession of Christ's deity as recorded in Matthew 16:16: "...Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God."

Peter was not the first pope, nor is there any Scriptural justification whatever for such an office.
1 Cor 10: 4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
Catholics base their claims on the following verse:
Matt 16: 18And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. 20Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.

Interesting that, if taken in context with the verses before and after, the passage says something completely different to what Catholics WANT it to say!!
Rock = Petra (Grk); Peter = petros meaning "pebble", not rock.
In the verses where Jesus says He will give Peter the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven, Jesus is commending Peter for his faith, but is talking collectively to the Apostles. He is giving the Apostles the keys to knowledge, to doctrine definition; He gives them authority, which was taken away from the Sanhedrin (Luke 11:52). Furthermore, Revelations 3:7 states that Jesus has the keys to heaven.

But, amazingly forgotten (very conveniently) .... just 3 verses later in Matt 16:23, after Jesus has supposedly appointed Peter as the first pope, what happens?.... let's read...
.... 23But Jesus turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
What! ...Jesus calls Peter Satan!? .... And this is remarkably similar to what the Catholic church does - savouring the things of men rather than the things of God. It's also a really strange way to talk to someone you've just appointed Pope!! Isn't it amazing how all false cults will pervert Scripture to say what they want it to say?

Peter's own inspired testimony as to his position and ministry is given in 1 Peter 5:1-4. He then identifies himself in 2 Peter 1:1 as "a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ.... ". History confirms the fact that there were no popes in the early church, not even in the Roman Catholic Church during the first few centuries of its existence!

Pentecost: What's That?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The day of Pentecost was observed in Jerusalem fifty days after the celebration of the Passover, which commemorated Israel's deliverance out of Egypt. It is significant that this day was chosen by the Lord to begin the fulfillment of Joel 2:28: "I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh...."
The Spirit came upon the waiting, praying disciples in an overwhelming manner. Their complete commitment to Christ and His commission evoked a mighty baptism of God's power. This was evidenced initially by their speaking in tongues (Acts 2:4). The Spirit was resident in their lives from that moment. The Spirit-filled early church witnessed many outstanding miraculous happenings (Acts 3:1-7; 4:31). They were able to lead victorious lives as a result of their Pentecostal experience.

Two baptisms were disclosed on the day of Pentecost. There was a baptism in the Holy Spirit, and in the Apostle Peter's message that followed, water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ was commanded (Acts 2:38). This outward, physical baptism mysteriously merges with that of the Spirit, and is the "one baptism" of Ephesians 4:5. This is what Jesus referred to as being "born again" in John 3:3-7. And how wonderful to be born into the family of God-changed, transformed, and made a "new creature in Christ Jesus".

No, Pentecost is not a denomination. It is a new birth experience. It is primitive Christianity made relevant to today's world. The people referred to as Pentecostal simply believe, teach, and receive all that transpired on that birthday of the church...Pentecost, 33 A.D. There is a church near you that embraces these basic Christian truths and experiences. You owe it to yourself to attend-and see what Pentecost can really mean to you!

If your curious there is more to that if your interested!

God blesses me well, thank you.
"I am the son of man"..Jesus
Yes, the Catholics founded a church...but not Jesus, "Your faith has made you whole"
If you had read your bible you would have noticed that all the prophets(men of GOD) never had a religious bone in their body ( including Jesus) No, their faith in God is what made them.
Final note, WE ARE THE CHILDREN OF GOD.

During the preaching of Jesus, people were wondering where He got His authority and wisdom. Jesus told them: "The Holy Spirit is like the wind. You do not know where it comes from and you do not where it is going".
