Everytime I ask a believer for evidence of their god(s) they give me two things, faith and the bible/koran/etc. None of which is proof of anything except their belief.

Atheists do not claim that we do not believe in god.
We claim that there is no god to believe in.

What's our proof, you ask? How do you disprove something that hasn't even been proven yet?

Belief/faith does not equal fact.

Whenever I do something I really enjoy and intrigues me, time disappears for me but the rest of the world experiences time a little slower. When I am bored and feeling incompetent time drags. Does anyone find a spritual connection to this and my time related experiences? Or just explain.

Man, I never thought I would appeal to this group of people? I have had Christians who answer my questions with thoughtfulness and tact and sometimes agree with what I, an Atheist have to say…Freaky? Could it be that we have more common ground than we thought?

I've tried asking god for answers or to show me the way, and I never get a response. Is it possible that I 'm so blind, deaf, or stupid that I can't see? Are some people more tuned in to this form of communication than others, that's why they become christians? If I have free will anyway, won't I create my own answers?

I am an atheist, but wouldn't your god want to reach people like me even more than you.

I think that if there was any real evidence of the supernatural then there would be no atheists, and yet here we are.

I was judged at work by a christian woman. I am a homosexual and I read metaphysical books. This pisses her off. I am just doing my thing. I don't give her **** about her actions. My point is that if you are a christian and you hear all of these people saying that there are christians judging people, and you disagree with it, why not start in your our backyard before trying to convert people in other areas. And I am sick of hearing that we are all individuals and have our own things to overcome. You guys left your individuality way behind when you decided to practice a religion. That might sound bad but **** it!

It seems lie certain introductions to the media such as certain movies and books(the matrix, davinci code and all the science meets spirituality books and more) is making progress...and do you think these introductions were planned and the people who may have planned them knew what they were doing with the raised awareness levels we are currently at today?

I don't really like the term non-believer, because I believe in SOMETHING, just not the same thing Christians believe. *lol*

Anyway, I was intrested in finding out what reasons you other non-Christians had for not caving in and turning to Christianity when we're preached to. Here's my list:

1. I don't like the idea of an organization where I can be "reveared" and "man's little helper," but I can never be truly equal to him.

2. Darwinism makes sense to me.

3. I can't bring myself to believe in a religion that says good people who just so happen to not be Christian will go to heaven, while a serial killer who repents on his deathbed will go to heaven.

4. I don't like being told what I can or cannot think, or what I can or cannot do to my own body.

5. I do not think being gay is a sin.

6. I believe that some sort of benevolent force created the universe, but I don't know what it is.

I might think of more and add them on later, but in the meantime, let's see what you guys think. :)

or ethical reasons.

2006-07-19 07:44:01 · 6 answers · asked by Anonymous

I suspect the reason is mostly because of association to certain or particular so called "Christians" and their proclaimed "values" perceived by Aetheists more than any true or enlightened understanding of Christ and his teachings.

For instance, Christ taught or commanded, "Let him who does wrong continue to do wrong; let him who is vile continue to be vile . . ." (Rev. 22:10) This appears to me to be even more liberty than the devil would give.

What is your opinion or thoughts? Is my suspicion correct?

To all who do not understand this system, know this, everyone can not be a doctor or a lawyer or a soldier or rich. The world needs people of all classes to function, however, it is not that if you were born in a so called lower class that you can not aspire to be in the upper. It is very possible and acceptable in this 'cast system' you keep labeling as Hinduism 's drawback. Learn to understand it before condeming it. How the West views it is of their own ignorance.
