I don't really like the term non-believer, because I believe in SOMETHING, just not the same thing Christians believe. *lol*
Anyway, I was intrested in finding out what reasons you other non-Christians had for not caving in and turning to Christianity when we're preached to. Here's my list:
1. I don't like the idea of an organization where I can be "reveared" and "man's little helper," but I can never be truly equal to him.
2. Darwinism makes sense to me.
3. I can't bring myself to believe in a religion that says good people who just so happen to not be Christian will go to heaven, while a serial killer who repents on his deathbed will go to heaven.
4. I don't like being told what I can or cannot think, or what I can or cannot do to my own body.
5. I do not think being gay is a sin.
6. I believe that some sort of benevolent force created the universe, but I don't know what it is.
I might think of more and add them on later, but in the meantime, let's see what you guys think. :)

I have basically the same reasons like you. I believe in God, but i dont like organised religions and i think there are many ways of getting closer to Him, not only christian. If only this one was true, why then Jesus was not born in other cultures like China or South America? So all people who lived in countries where they havent heard of Jesus are sentenced to suffer in hell just because they were not lucky enough to be born in North africa/europe? Also, we cant believe in Bible, because it was changed during centuries in order to ensure fear of people so they kept going to church and were obedient= money for church. There were many more books in New testament, but only 4 of them were chosen as a part of "modern" bible. I ask why? what was written about Jesus by other authors? I cant believe in something when im not allowed to read the whole truth and when i know that the hol ybible was censored!

I'm Pagan, does that count?
1. The Bible is inaccurate and full of contradictions.
2. I believe in the duality of Deities, not just one God.
3. Jesus wasn't the only saviour. There were many before him.
4. I don't believe in heaven or hell. However, I believe there is one secular place we all go to when die.
5. I believe in reincarnation.
6. I believe in spirits.
7. I believe in the Oracle.
8. I practice Witchcraft
9. I know the latter two are not evil.
10. Even though I believe there is evil in the world, I don't believe there is a big, red guy in a fiery pit conducting it all.
11. I believe the Earth has it's own spirit or energy force.
12. I believe in the energies of crystals and herbs.
13. I believe in alternative healing such as Reiki and acupuncture.
There's a lot more, but I'm hungry so I can't think LOL!

I pretty much agree with the same things as you do. Number 1 for me is being told what to think. I believe that truly moral people will know the difference between right and wrong without having some one else tell you what that has to be. And truly moral people can follow them without the punishment/reward system. (i.e. I won't shoplift not because I'm afraid of sinning, but because stealing in any form is wrong because somehow someone will lose out because of it.)

I agree with all your points.
I have my beliefs and do not subscribe to a religion. My main reasons? Because I feel useful, fulfilled, my life has a direction and purpose, I have deep faith, I have others with whom I can share this experience, I know what's important in life and what's not, and I have an effective, personal relationship with my creator who provides me everything I need if I ask for direction.
All that, without the guilt! Oh yeah, and I can swear like a god-damned sailor.

i think of you're finding on the vindictive God of the "previous testomony", which many Christians in recent times refuse to nicely known. maximum Christians of immediately have faith interior the "New testomony" God, a God who's loving, forgiving, etc. i discover it impossible for me to have faith in God for the uncomplicated reason that the Bible or perhaps Christianity itself do exactly no longer make experience. It contradicts itself in various techniques (as an occasion, the evil God of the previous testomony, and the reformed God of the hot), and Christians look hopping from one foot to the different, attempting to return up with rationalization for the plain gaps interior the e book that they planned to be "God's be conscious." Many Christians say that technological know-how could desire to have no longer something to do with faith, yet they pounce on any scientific evidence that exhibits any inkling of even slightly concerning the Bible. i think that if there replace right into a God worth worshipping, and he somewhat enjoyed us for who we are.... than i could have no longer something to rigidity approximately besides. because it is, i will purely see faith as a mass mania that caters to those that locate themselves frequently hypocrites. mutually because it is attainable to discover the uncommon man or woman who can certainly evaluate themselves a genuine "Christian"; it is unhappy that, somewhat, maximum human beings of the "forgiving believers" are genuinely a collection of the main vindictive and hateful human beings interior the international. i assume you may desire to declare it is the rationalization i don't have faith in God.

I would have to say I largely agree with your points, and would add that I just can't bring myself to go along with everything written in a book thats 2000 years old and a compillation of tribal oral traditions. For one thing, its not my tribe. lol

I have seen too much nonsense in the name of God to believe that God would ever allow those atrocities in His name.
And I have seen too many people so afraid to question their own faith (when finding the answers to those questions would make their own faith stronger) that they're willing to kill/hurt/impugne rather than face those questions.
