why do some christians think that telling an atheist, such as myself, we are going to go to hell if we don't start to believe as you do will suddenly scare us into belief in your god?

don't you understand that we also don't believe in hell?

how can you expect us to be scared of something that we know doesn't exsist?

If you honestly, to your core, thought you were a good Christian, thought you understood everything in the Bible and tried to follow God's/Jesus's ways... and then died and found out that actually you were going to Hell, how would you feel? What would be your reaction?

1) It (the Bible) is full of interest. It has noble poetry in it; and some clever fables; and some blood-drenched history; and some good morals; and a wealth of obscenity; and upwards of a thousand lies
2) Who wants to go to Heaven with all those asshole angels?
3) There is so much in the bible against which every instinct of my being rebels, so much so that I regret the necessity, which has compelled me to read it through from beginning to end. I do not think that the knowledge I have gained of its history and sources compensates me for the unpleasant details it has forced upon my attention."
4) Faith means not wanting to know what is true.
5) All thinking men are atheists
6) With soap, baptism is a good thing
7) History I believe furnishes no example of a priest-ridden people maintaining a free civil government. This marks the lowest grade of ignorance, of which their political as well as religious leaders will always avail themselves for their own purpose
8) Christianity is the most perverted system that ever shone on man
9) The Bible is not my book nor Christianity my profession. I could never give assent to the long, complicated statements of Christian dogma

I am a Christian. I strive daily to walk in the path God has for me. It seems like I am to be a lonely person though. I have very few friends and today I lost another one. I really think it is me. No matter how hard I try--the friendships never last. Is this the will of God for me?

You can't possibly know that god is speaking to you through the bible and telling the truth. For all you know everything he is saying is a complete lie. Maybe he finds it funny for you to take things like this seriously:

Isaiah 43:20 The beast of the field shall honour me, the DRAGONS and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen.

Ezekiel 13:18 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the women that sew pillows to all armholes, and make kerchiefs upon the head of every stature to hunt souls! Will ye hunt the souls of my people, and will ye save the souls alive that come unto you? (God really doesn't like pillows.)

Psa 22:21 Save me from the lion's mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the UNICORNS.

Question mainly for non-Christians>>>

I don't know if anyone is paying attention to the debate going on right now about the marriage ammendment, but I've noticed many lawmakers talking about their support of it based on the Bible and the 10 commandments, etc. If you do not follow such beliefs, how do you feel about lawmakers trying to pass an ammendment that is soley supported by how their beliefs rule on the issue?

When you go on a trip or have someone visit do you often thank God for "delivierng" them (or yourself) safely to their (your) destination?

Why?

Why attribute someone's driving skill to God? and if for some reason the person has an accident and is injured, or even killed does that mean somehow God screwed up?

How do you know?
Earthquakes? Fires? Storms? Tsunamis? Famine? Death? Disease? Even.. *gasp* War?
Which of these things is new? At what point in human history were none of these things going on? Heck, the period of the Black Death fit biblical accounts of the "last days" better than now.

You know how long Christians have believed they were living in the last days of earth's history? about 2000 years. Read Mark 13:30.

I'm an Eclectic Wiccan as my friend is, and her birthday is coming up this month and I thought it would be a nice gift to make her a wand, but is this appropriate since wands are a personal thing? If not, what are some other Pagan/Wiccan crafts I could use to make her a gift?

My family & I went to a zoo. Were all fascinated by the lions & my dad got the bright idea to get one as a pet. I strongly objected & cldn't understand his reasoning, but I was overrulled & my family inquired about taking 1 home. The zookeeper assured us that they would give the lion a tranquilizer & an extra so we could transition him easily. Strangely, after they shot him, they wrapped him in a box that seemed too small 4 him. When we got home, they put the lion in our guest room - frmly. my room. I felt such anxiety about this. I noticed cracks in the box & was sure the lion would get out - but family just brushed me off. My mom then decided she wanted 2 brush the lion's teeth. I screamed @ her to stop b/c i though she would wake him & he would hurt her, but she didnt listen. i saw the lion begin to "come to" but she finished @ put him back in box. we ended up having to give other tranq. so he would go back out. my rents then lft me @ house alone. i tried 2...TBC
