When you go on a trip or have someone visit do you often thank God for "delivierng" them (or yourself) safely to their (your) destination?

Why?

Why attribute someone's driving skill to God? and if for some reason the person has an accident and is injured, or even killed does that mean somehow God screwed up?

Why thank him for food that I bought and cooked myself?

If a steak suddenly appears on a plate, then I'll thank him for it.

We thank God for these little miracles because that's what they are - little miracles.

Do you know when you are going to die? No, none of us do. So when we reach a destination safely, especially a long rigorous one, we count ourselves blessed. It's the same reason why I thank God every morning for one more day of life, because who knows when I won't be here anymore.

If someone is killed or hurt in an accident, it is because it was an accident. A million different things could have caused it, like somebody's car breaking down or someone falling asleep while driving or not paying attention or bad weather or whatever. It doesn't mean God screwed up. It means that with all those things that could happen us, we count ourselves blessed that we arrived safe and sound. And we thank God, as we properly should.

God bless,

Danny

There is no harm done in acknowledging God's help in a safe arrival. This does not mean a pilot is unskilled, or the mechanics neglectful, and that God kept an otherwise shoddy flight together. It is simply gratitude at the opportunity to live another day.

Really - how are you harmed by this? Perhaps you have no wish to offer such thanks, but I see little point in begrudging those who do. On the off-chance that they are right, and you are wrong, you might even be grateful: if prayer and gratitude does have a role in these events, it will be their faith that is at thanks, and not your cynicism.

Because it was by His divine providence that I was able to go, arrive safely and conduct business when I arrived. I exist because He wills it.

As for accidents and injuries, free will is the one thing God will not change. Drunk drivers have free will to drive as they choose. Accidents are the fault of someone not doing what they should have done - free will.

God does protect us and He allows some things to happen. No one on earth will ever have all of the answers as to why.
No one is promised tomorrow, so with every day we get, we thank Him.
Why does it have to be an issue? You obviously don't believe in God for some reason, just let people have their beliefs and you can have yours.

We thank God becuz he helped us get home or somewhere else safely. If an accident happens but the person is ok, then we thank God again for showing us that we love this person and that we're so happy that he/she is ok!

I thank God for all His good gifts and provisions, which includes the skill and ability to drive safely and arrive safely. All good gifts come from our Father in heaven.

Grace to you, friend.

Typical Atheists, always questioning us. If you think we're all weak minded fools, (you said that on an answer you gave) then why are the majority of your questions aimed at insulting us and what we believe?

It just strengthens my theory that you guys do this because you know, deep down that being an Atheist is unfullfilling and pointless. It's a fad.

I thank God for EVERYTHING that happens to me. Whether I perceive it to be positive or negative. I thank God all the time day and night.

God gave us the gift of free will and thus, the ability to create our own reality.

The universal law of attraction maintains that the vibrations we emit into the world via our conscious or unconscious beliefs, thoughts, emotions, words (verbal and written) and actions, and whether they are positive or negative, love-based or fear-based, lead to the events that we experience in return, in one form or another. These vibrations occur singly, by individuals and collectively, by societies and cultures.

Giving thanks to God is simply putting a vibration into the universe and deciding intentionally what you want to create for yourself.

It's all in His plan. That means that even when some drunk smashes into you, and the crash paralyzes you and kills your wife, you should say "Thank you God. I'm sure there was a purpose for making me a paraplegic widower."
